Diablo Sport Predator

For my brothers 04.5 Dodge Cummins;

Will the Predator be ok with a 6 spd manual trans? Retailer also says he should go with the BD 3 piece manifold. True/False? Sorry for the dumb questions. Cummins isn't my gig.....yet lol.

The three piece doesn't go on a common rail unless you are running twin turbos. A Diablo is fine on a manual or automatic. If his is a manual then he may want to watch the clutch or it will be toast quick on the extreme and Puff tunes.

he said it the clutch will not like the HI power tunes. my stock clutch with 35' tires does not even like the perf. tune...
I have had togo with stacker perf. with no puck till i can get a South Bend.
the problem is witch one to get DD or ofe. after reading a lot on here i think i will go with the DD 12sp clutch. just as soon as i have 2grand to spend on a clutch...

Good luck and enjoy!!!

The manifold is an exhaust manifold. Is this what you guys were talking about?

That's a nice manifold but he does not really "need" it. A clutch is what he will need if he enjoys that Predator too much....
He should have at least an egt guage as that thing can get a little hot with a stock turbo. Other than that, he should be good to go...

Wow. Great info and thanks. Is there a link to where he can find a clutch? We only want the Predator because it has low tunes for pullin our 15,500 lb 5'ers. I have the LBZ duramax/Ally combo so I ordered 4" ss MBRP exhaust w/5" tip , guages, (BD drivers side manifold for my Chevy) and Predators for each truck.

Yeah, those are exhaust manifolds. I was pointing out the fact that the guy you were talking to really doesn't know much because the three piece is for the 24 valve trucks (98.5-02) and the two piece is for the common rail (03-07) 24 valve trucks. To answer the question, it won't help him at this stage but if he plans on a bigger turbo, intake horn, cold air intake, intercooler and a lot more fuel along with a 5" exhaust then he will benefit for sure. The only thing it would be good for now is it is more durable and is already tapped for a thermo couple for EGT gauge which should be mandatory for any fuel upgrade otherwise he can just drill and tap the stock manifold. To find the right place, drill and tap size just use the search feature. As far as clutches go, Southbend is all he needs to know. http://www.southbendclutch.com/dynamax.html Good luck.

Thanks,

I assume the clutch is the weak link here. We were in upstate PA. last month leaving a campground. The exit to the CG is on a steep incline at a stop sign. He stopped, waited for traffic and when he let the clutch out to go I saw him roll back towards me. He did this several times and said his clutch felt like it was slipping or wouldn't engage. I backed up so he could back up to level ground. Once he got a runnin start he was good to go. I offered to pull him up the hill but brotherly competition being what it is lol...nah we have a good time with our trucks and campers. We're heading to Bar Harbor ME on Saturday for 9 days of lobster eatin and relaxation!

How much is that clutch upgrade.... Dyna Max Clutch Kit MU 1947 Con. FE?

My Con Fe was $800 I don't think the price has changed. You'll pay about an extra $300-400 in installation unless you do it yourself.

Sounds like fun in Maine to me. Lobster and beer doesn't get much better.

Mine was slipping on anything higher than the tow tune on the Predator.... He will also need a solid flywheel and hydraulic kit. That runs a few hundred bucks more. List price on the whole kit is around $1500.00

Dodgezilla, do you think having the 4:10 rear will benefit him? Are these clutch issues mainly starting out from a stop? Forgive my ignorance

my clutch is holding ok on extreme and if he only uses the tow tunes the stocker should be fine.the clutches usually slip in the higher gears after your moving.hes probaly not gonna use anything higher than tow tune to tow his goods anyway so he should be fine, with ur duramx do u have the user tunable tuner?{cant remeber what its called}.ive heard its wicked for the d-max.

it all depends on how u drive,u could have 700hp on a stock clutch if u drove with an egg under the go pedal{but whyyyyyyy}i think 400hp would be safe on a stocker if he doesnt beat on her

Mine would slip on the top end not the bottom. He's probably just going to have to try it and see how his truck responds.
