Pipe

I have the delete pipe from Geno's Garage. Very nice install, stock muffler a pain to get off. I like the sound of it. Can roll the windows down and hear a nice deep bellow. I also still have the kitty on.

Ditto here. Muffler gone via Geno's MEK, kitty still there. Nice, deep rumble. I have a little drone at 1500rpms (gets a bit louder while towing) but nothing too annoying. I wouldn't have this truck any other way! Quiet is not for exhaust.

Chet!!! Dont do 3" man. You might as well keep your stock exhaust. The 3" will cause a bottle neck and probably run just as hot, if not hotter than stock.

for a quick ref:
Generally speaking,
Flow of a pipe is relative to its area. Area= pi X r^2

A3"= 7.06 in^2
A4"= 12.56 in^2
A5"= 19.64 in^2

so as you can see, 3" flow will be dramatically less than 4" pipe, by about 77%
and 5" pipe will flow about 56% more than 4".

I reccomend you do it right the first time and get the pre-bent pipe.

I had the local muffler shop (not a big name) take a piece of 4 " and flare it on each end , cut out the cat and muffler and jam the piece in and weld it. charged me 120$

nobody can bend a 4" pipe. that sucks. ive looked all over and the only one who has it is genos. but 96$ w/o ship. is it too much drone w/o muff and cat. i was just gonna leave the cat in. just want a little deeper sound.

Get on e-bay and find a delete pipe. I got one and it was a Flo-Pro brand, so you should be able to get it from a shop that carries Flo-Pro. I was going to install it myself, but it didn't come with any hangers, so I had the shop do it for $15. I think the delete pipe was $50 shipped. The guy I got it from on e-bay has a website now, so let me know if you want it. I got my delete pipe and 6" tip for $108 shipped.

Good luck,
Nick

"a little drone at 1500rpms"

Maybe it's hard to describe, but what is the drone sound and what does it sound like? Anybody have a wav of it? A muffler delete on mine is next. As soon as I can get a little mad money the wife dosen't know about.

the drone is a resonate frequency that isnt loud per say, just hurts your ears and vibrates your cab like crap! It will make you grimiss everytime your truck hits that special rpm!!! I dont think it would show up on an audio clip as the speakers prolly cant recreate the horindous sound!

hey man, btw - why cant you just buy (2) 45* elbows and weld them together and gain the offset you need... thats the route I was gonna do, then I wound up dumping mine, then progressing to the stack, skipping the straight pipe idea. Im willing to help you out if need be. Just another option that exists... btw, the 45s are like 15-20 ea. and then you will need like 2ft of straight pipe... so I would estimate your cost that way at $50 in parts.

edit: If you want, I will bring my 45 elbow that I used to dump mine and we can put it on yours and you can gain a feel for the sound.

I shopped around and found that there were no shops around here that could bend 4" pipe. All the exhaust shops only went to 3" or MAYBE 3.5", and then the big truck shops started at 5". It was just easier to get the kit from Geno's. It was an hour job, and 75% of that time is cutting the old muffler out.
