Death Wobble

So I have 295 8ply nitto terra grapplers and I have been having death wobble for a while now. What I decided to do was go to the local Firestone and ask them about it. I also noticed that a guy on here maxed his caster which made all the difference. So I asked the mechanic to do the same and he said this would not help and said that the problem was that my tires are 8ply and due to it being a diesel I need a 10ply. I also noticed that a lot of guys on here get death wobble from the bfg at's which are 10ply. So what do yall guys think.

I had BFG 315's that are 8 ply & induced death wobble. I Put on a Thuren track bar & his Fox steering stabilizer. Most of the wobble went away. I went to Toyo OC MT's 35 x 20x 12.5 (10 ply) and have an enjoyable ride again.

Im pretty sure the stock tires are not 10ply either that may be why guys running stock tires get it also.

No lift, but I have a leveling kit. (2wd truck). And my DW started last Friday. All my tire weights are there, balljoints look good, I'm stumped.

I believe the stock michelin's that came on my truck are 10 ply.... Maxing the caster will help.. THe tech has never delt with this problem and so doesn't know there have been many on here that have done that and solved the death wobble... I had to get rid of my 8 ply d rated tires for 10 ply e-rated ones... and a new steering stabilizer even after having the ball joints replaced!!!

I had it one time with when the truck was stock. I had the caster put to 5.5 (maxed). Then I had it one more time. Then my brother gave me a set of Toyo 35'' MT's. I have never had it since, and I have put mucho miles on the Toyos.

FYI and good luck.

I doubt it has anything to do with the load rating of the tires, my Coopers are 8 ply and I've never had a problem.

It seems to be a problem out of the softer treaded tires. Would maxing the caster has the same effect on a 2wd?
