dead lift pump with zilla

So my truck died today and I got P0628 and P0148 code. If it is a bad lift pump could the zilla std have caused it and will I have any warrenty trouble? I took it out incase but want to know what to expect when it goes into dodge tomarrow. Thank you!

While the quad will use more fuel in situations.....I don't think there is any way it could have caused it to fail. IMO, If they warranty is going to pay for the in tank upgrade and you plan on more mods.........go ahead and upgrade the fuel pump now. Or at least plan for it with the next set of mods. I also wouldn't offer the info that you had a quad on the truck either. Not that I think it caused your pump to die, but the dealerships in general are not very educated on the technology of most of the mods that are on the market and will probably frown on it.

My 2 cents, Dodge my warranty it but that means they will install a intank pump. The intank pump will drop to very low pressure with the standard at wot ( the standad adds pressure).

You are in luck though if you install an aftermarket pump before a change to the intank you will not have the 1/4 tank issue. Now would be the best time to do a walbro, fass or air dog. Even a holley blue with pump adapter from vulcan would be better at keeping psi up. PSI is needed to lubicate the ip and injectors.

I cant see how the Quad caused your lift pump to fail. Like VZ said, dont let them know you were bombed. Dealers like to find any reason to void warranties and I dont see where this is a case of trying to rip off DC.

when you guys say change to an intank that means it does not have one now? So would it be best not to even take it to dodge and just put a Fass on? Sorry I am a bit clueless becides knowing the lift pump supplies the ip and that bigger the better. also whats the 1/4 tank issue? thanks in advance again!

Noop, they die all on there own. Mine went a little over 23,000 miles. Pull the box and take it in. If you are wanting better filtration then you can pay for a Airdog 100. Better to make that choice now then after they retrofit the in tank LP. Intank units are fine though.

At what point did they change over to the in tank pump? My buddy has a build date of 4/04 and he has the in tank pump. The 1/4 tank problem guys are talking about is when you put in a stand pipe for an aftermarket fuel pump it doesnt usually scavenge the last 1/4 tank of fuel. They will start to suck air below 1/4 tank going around turns or accelerating hard.

OK. He got his truck with 11k on it so I guess it already had the lift pump replaced in that short of a time.

Well then, if Avrumo has the extra money now, I would put on an aftermarket fuel pump. I hate that I cant go much below 1/4 tank.

Not running any boxes or other power adders I added a Walbro. I didn't have any fuel problems but just wanted to change out to the Walbro over the stock pump. Other than the Walbro I only have the vent mod and the big line kit. Bought all of them here from Lary. I ordered one day and had the stuff the next day, it helps when the shipper is about 250 miles from the house.

Thank you everyone for your quick answers. Much appreciated. I think I am going to go ahead and get the warrenty done though. Wish I could spring for the new pump but with the cost of fuel, it is hard to spend money on extras for the truck when averaging 1-2 tanks a week. Darn.

Well I think I kinda took it in the you know what. Unfortunentally I can't live without the truck right now. They said the lift pumps are on huge back order...like 95 needed only 2 available. So they bought one from another dealership but won't be 'till friday when they get it and I have to pay an extra $60 for shipping. "we cant comp shipping because of chrysler not paying us enough for warranty...blah blah" strait from the manager. You would think buying 3 trucks from the same dealership they would cut the little man some slack! Sorry to vent but 60 bucks is 60 bucks when you already pay for an extended warranty. At least they are gonna fix some little things on the house as well. Anyone else have this happen to them? Solutions?
