Dang machine shops won't touch my H2 rims..

I called three machine shops today to open up my H2 rim centers and all three of them said they won't do it since it's on a wheel and they don't want the liability if something ever happens to the truck!!

So, anybody in Northern Va if you know a shop that will do these please let me know. Otherwise if someone knows of a good grinding wheel that will do the job quickly please let me know that too. I did a set a few years ago on my 03 but I sold my big holesaw and don't want to spend the $50 on another one of those. I used some grinding bits back then too but I had to constantly stop and clean the aluminum out of the teeth. It was a real pain not to mention that I burned up my drill in the process.......

I think using a router is the best... Could you rent one?

Well, I've never used a router before. I really don't want to experiment on a nice set of rims....

You just need to find one of those old timers that has a small machine shop in his old decrepid garage that works for beer and cigarettes...there's one in every town!!

Not sure what a Rotozip is. I am going to go to where I know there used to be one of those little hole in the wall shops not too far from work here. Hopefully they will do it for cash and no reciept......

That's what I did. Found the guy in the little old building with "Machine Shop" written on the door. Charged me $20 per wheel.

Well, the one I went to has closed up shop long ago. I don't mind doing these myself but I want to have a really good grinding bit for my drill. A router is a good idea but since I've never used one I don't want to risk messing something up..... I don't know if it's even worth the trouble. I think these would look great on my truck though...

Yup. Off of an 08. The recessed portions of the rim are kind of like the shade of GunMetal. If it was a little more gold then they would be perfect for my truck. We'll see how things go......

Rotozip is a high speed cutting tool. Similar to a drill but 20k+ rpms.
You can find them at Home Depot for about $50 and have all 4 cut and installed in less than an 1 hour.
