coolant temp to high?

coolant temp to high?

my coolant temp on my bullydog out look was up to 226 today while i was going up a hill empty besides just a fuorwheeler in the box..i drilled my tstat to help with it and it did for a bit but now its just gettin to hot it also was running at 223 for a few mintues today as i was going down some bush roads at about 20km/h... is there after market lower tstats or should i get my coolant changed and rad flushed? oh and it was 68*farinheit...also my blow by tube was blowing a bit of white was that from it being to hot as i checked my oil and it was not anyhigher and didnt smell like diesel

with the temps getting that high i would check some stuff,is your fan engaging?should be able to hear it.check for codes,mine would heat up a bit but not that high and i had the 483 code,fan speed not corect or somthing,maybe try a new tstat too,i asked about a 180 degree tstat for the cummins and they make one,i dont know the part number though,i may get one for the summers,im close to you and its starting to get pretty hot.

alright thanks a lot man i pressure washed my rad tonight and went for a drive and it got up to 214 but might not have wetn as high because of the cooler temps outside..im going to look in to that 180 and prob run that for the summer

Im running a 180 with one bar bell removed. I think 180 is hot enough for winter also.
But it takes to long to warm up to opp temps when is cold out. One barbell makes a big difference in warm up time.

Seems odd to me, I live in Texas and rarely see over 200. We have basically the same mods, but I have the SO engine. Have you checked the fluid level? It might be something as small as that
