Commander A-pillar Mount

I have word that the prototype is built and we should have prototype pictures tomorrow.

The first piece is a 1/2 pillar mount that comes in the factory matching color, so no painting is required. This should be a direct bolt in piece and will allow you to keep your grab handle.

I should have retail pricing out in a day or two and I will let our vendors know the drill.

I will need to get an idea of how many will want this so there is not an issue with supply. We will be placing our first order later this week and production time should be very fast at this point.

I am just happy this finally got finished! I thought it was simply a mirage.

Yeah, I know. We are hoping to get the biggest chunk of our backorders out sometime late next week.

The problem is that everytime we make a shipment people re-order and put us back to backorder status.

After the last shipment it was less than 24hours and we were backordered worse than when we started shipping.

I am hoping we are now building them fast enough to saitisy everyone.

I do not want to break your heart, but this is something that will go over the existing a-pillar mount. Actually the only pillar mount that holds a gauge or gauges that is a full replacement is the SRT-10 pillar. I could be wrong, but all the mounts I have seen are vacuum formed and would not be heavy duty enough to be on the pillar themselves. The SRT pillar is injection molded and that is why it is pretty spendy.

4x4Not,

I see no reason that you should not get yours at this point, however I am not sure who you ordered through or when the order was placed? PM me and I will find out.

Quad,

Any resolution on my Commander and that UPS mix-up?

And how can I get on the list to get one of the 1st batch A-pillars? Do I need to preorder with Lary?
Thanks!

Quad, put me down for one. My Commander is still wedged against my windshield because I can't get the tape to hold it anywhere.

Use 3M tape instead..unphased by heat.

Do you have Armor All on your dash? Nothing sticks to that.

I used the latest 3M tape Quad had. I cleaned the dash area completely and it will not stick. The problem seems to be more the curve of the dash as opposed to the tape sticking and not being able to adjust the mount very much. If the pillar mount is going to be available then I am not worried about trying to get it stuck to the dash.

Ok Guys, I have new, yet different information than I had yesterday.

As most of you know I did not build this and we had a reputable company doing this for us. I was under the impression that they were building a 1/2 pillar mount for the Dodge trucks. Somewhere along the way I guess the went a different route. I was a little shocked when I recieved my proto pictures mainly because I was expecting a 1/2 pillar mount shown in a Dodge.

So with that said I am going to post a couple of pictures. What they did was build a "univeral" 2 1/16" mount that will hold the Commander and fit into any gauge pod. These pictures are unpainted and are actually holding just bare plastic. They tried to print a picture of the Commander on our website and put it in the display, but all it does is make the screen look small and everything else look really large! Keep this is in mind when you look at it.

The best I can tell is that it is about 1/4" larger than the Commander on all sides. I am supposed to get one in my hands tomorrow and I will take good pictures with it painted to look nice in a Dodge truck. I think that will make a huge difference. I will give you guys my 100% opinion tomorrow.

For now take a look at the pictures and feel free to comment on it. If you want pricing info on the first run please contact Lary here at the DTR strore. I think the first run is going to be small to make sure it is functional and looks good enough to go into the vehicles.

I will try to answer any questions I can so fire away, but remember I have not been able to hold one yet.

Quad, will the mount have a pillar mount and a seperate piece that the Commander mounts to and then that will mount to the pillar mount? That is the impression I get from the pictures. As long as you take a look at it and feel like it will do the job I will be purchasing one of them. I need some way to get mine mounted other than just on the dash or the steering column.

Also will they be painted to match the trucks interior or black? I have already sent Lary a PM about pricing and availabilty. Thanks.
