Cold wether impact on engine?

All, I'm not a diesel guru, so sorry if this is a stupid question...

Does Cold Weather:

- Reduce Boost (at least minimally)...becasue the air is colder and less boost is required for the same volume of air? I could swear i'm down a few psi of boost in the last couple of days since its been coolder???

- Cause more engine rattle / noises?

or does winter fuel do any of the above?

Thanks in advance

some may argue, but yes, less boost is required too move the same volum of air, not much diffrent maybe 2-3 psi at most.

I have not noticed any different noises when it is cold outside, maybe a touch more rattle, but nothing too worry about (this is at -40), and theoretically (sp?) winter fuel could cause a slight ping, but cant say that i have heard it, i just notice the 15% reduction in mileage and power.
