Cold Air Intakes using factory lower elbow

My airaid intake utilizes the stock lower elbow by the turbo. For those of you that have installed one of these or the S&B, did you remove the white plastic vanes in the lower elbow or did you leave them in place? I did and I'm not sure if it should have been removed.

I have the S&B. I did not remove the vanes. They look like a good idea to guide the air around the elbow.

I made my own torque tube out of some 4" pvc and 2 couplers and removed the vanes. The vanes looked kinda restrictive so i removed them 35,000miles later and every things ok

I thought the S+B came with a tube that went all the way to the turbo??????????????

How far does the S+B tube go?

They dont help anything!! infact all they do is look like they should be there, other than that they are as useless as a boar with mammaries!

they do not help performance... they probably don't HURT performance untill you get to a certain level, but you'll get better performance without them whan you will with...

I would have to see actual flow charts that could PROVE what you guys are saying!! I have seen Flow Charts on Intakes/Exhausts and beleive me these veins are NOT going to create a problem in this 3"-4" Intake Tubing with the stock compressor!!!! I work with massive AirFlow Units everyday and I know that anything that can help DIRECT the flow of Air/Water will help in the efficiency of that substance. As said before, mine will be staying!

ok, but it's not helping... if it helped so much, why don't aftermarket intake setups utilize one?

it's a sound suppression thing, not a performance thing

That is true because the air veins direct the air instead of letting the air slam against the bottom portion of the Intake Tube---Which would create a slight swirl-----which ='s NOISE. So therefore you are right in the sound department. AFTERMARKET-----$$$$$$$$$-----and what does everyone want in an Intake---To hear that TURBO SCREAM!!!!!!

I think a TAG would be a better fluid "straightener" than a cross
