Ive got a flitz ball and polish for my SRT-8's 20's. I think Im gonna use that on my stacks when I get my lazy rear in gear. Ive tried just soap and a sponge, but it needs a little more attention.

THE FINEST steel wool you can find. Like tripple aught or finer and you will be happy. Use it all the time.

Any good paint store (or bigger hardware) will have "such" wool.

It's usually in round bags, about 4" in diameter by a foot or so.

I use Eagle One Never dull. It comes in a can... more or less a wadding polish with wax already in the wadding, so it cleans and protects at the same time. You can get it at Wal-mart or alot of the truck stops.

I don't blame you for that post!! LOL!! I only used it when I could not get the stacks clean from a normal wash. In the winter time up in Idaho, I would get a ton of road grime plus the CRAP they spray on the roads (which is TERRIBLE and corrosive) so I had to find the FINEST steel wool available and use soap and water when you are doing it then you can polish them up with never dull or equivalent polish. Looks great and won't tear up the chrome.

Simple green on a papertowl always got the soot off, then just dryed them off with a shammy when theyre clean and no spots...

On a similar topic, I have a problem cleaning to soot off of my fender. Whenever I wash my truck, there is a black stain on the fender. Any suggestions for getting that off without damaging the paint?

have you tried bug and tar remover? Make sure you wax the heck out of it when you get it cleaned off. maybe that will help in the future.
