Going for a trip to the States traveling from Alberta to Washington will have problems with no catalytic converter

If you are from Alberta and properly licensed there, even in the unlikely event you were stopped, they aren't going to check for your cat. In the almost impossible scenario that you were stopped and they did look, they aren't going to do anything because you are ok from where you are permanently licensed.

In other words, no worries.
