Carli ball joint

So are these new HD Carli ball joints really worth the $350 more than the Moog uppers? Seems a bit steep!

They don't replace the lower ball joints?

I know it is only the uppers. I would assume Moog is the best answer for lowers yet. Just curious if the additional $350 for uppers is worth it? $550 vs $200 for Moogs on the uppers.

Oh - somehow I thought it was the lowers... after all, that's where the real deficiency in the CTD Rams' front end is.

The upper ball joint is really nothing more than a floating king pin, designed with quite a bit of vertical movement to account for the non-parallel axes of the upper & lower ball joints. As such, the upper ball joints don't support the weight of the vehicle (which is why the FSM lists a lateral wear spec for them). Instead, the lower ball joints have to carry the heavy front end, and they're simply too small - about the same size as the ball joints of an older 1/2 Chevy or Jeep.

So, look on the bright side - if you get the Carli's you probably won't ever have to worry about the camber wear again!

I don't see the lowers failing anywhere near the frequency of the uppers in all the 4x4's I see and work on.
I do beleive they are worth the premium,it will put an end to the replacement chore.

I bet if you put a package deal together with your uppers and moog lowers at an overall lower cost you will sell more.

Nobody likes the idea of tearing apart the whole front end to change just the uppers, we dont want to do it again so we're all gonna be looking to change out the lowers also.

Maybe you could get us a killer price on moog lowers to offset the cost of your killer BJ's.

Just a thought
