The only mod I have is an Edge Juice. I still have the factory air filter for cryin' out loud. If the juice is on level 5, I cannot floor it without seriously roasting the tire (open diff). Even on level 3 it breaks loose. But I agree with slipping it into 4 wheel, power breaking it to about 8lbs of boost, and leaving the kid in the Hoda next to you with

Come on now - are you all serious? I could smoke my 315's for days absolutely bone stock. Didn't take all that much petal either ... maybe it's just my superior driving skills - no wait - I don't have those. Just hold onto the brakes a bit and nail the long skinny one ... if every 16 year old on earth can do it driving their mom's neon, then I know every Cummins can too!

I can even get my "puny VE pumped" truck to roast them, without any water. It just requires building the boost up and then flooring it and letting off the brake. Im running 265/75/16s with 3.54s. Of course the 1st gens also weigh less...

with my edge ez on level 4 and 315's i can get a 3rd gear scratch on dry pavement. if you floor it when you hit third you can get them to turn loose around 1500 rpm's i know my truck is a six speed, and you have an auto. I have a friend that has basically the same truck as mine only with an auto, and he can smoke them like crazy.

Shovelhead, I'm glad you said something, because for a minute, I was starting to think that I was the only one without trees that grew money in my front yard I'm not really too interested in dropping $350/tire and then just melting them away in a juvenile act of machismo. So any way it seems some people with same setups can and cant roast the tires. hhmmm i have done exactly what some of you have said. brake on build boost and let out on the brake a lil to try to get em spinning but it still doesnt work. why would some identical trucks be able to and others not? thanks

In the rain I could spin them stock, dry no way. With the 275's I can light em power braking. Really fun to build boost at a red light waiting to turn right, let up the brake, nail it and counter steer! Since my truck doesn't smoke people out, when someone gets bascially under my bumper at a red light, I do this when I take off, keeps them back there a bit.

I'm with Dodgezilla. I knew it couldn't do it before so I did 1 nice posi (I know posi is not dodge but whatever) cooker after I got my tranny done. My next one will be some $25 wearbar specials from the tire shop. Those I plan to toast something good though (I've been studying Johns' videos!).
I can tell you that with the SO engine and 47re tranny my truck would not powerbrake well at all. The thing just would not build boost untill I did the tranny. Thought is was torque management but the tighter convertor did it (I have an anti-defueler now but didn't then).

today at a stop sign i held the brake and went to about 1700, then let off and i was going sideways, and i was watching as it shifted. i felt the OD shift and it finally caught, after about 300ft
