Can anybody compare the Tripple Dog to the Quad chip?

I returned my standard Quad chip because of CB issues. I have been tired of waiting for the new updated box to be released and Quad has not returned any of my PM messages.
I really liked the chip but would of liked a little more low end power or to have come on sooner at the bottom.

Does anybody have any experience with the two to give me an honest comparison? I was going to go with the Juice, but I already have full gauges and now have learned that BD now doesn't leave a print.

Thanks.

Capp35, I just purchased the Triple Dog this weekend and I'm pleased but I wouldn't say it has alot of low end power (at least on the tow setting) but it does come on nice a strong in the upper range.

Just so you know, I bought it thinking it didn't leave a footprint and found out you need a 2004.5 or later with TSB 18-037-04. I ended up finally getting the guts to download it anyway and had no problems. I'm curious to see how I do on mileage this week.

Can't comment on the Quad though. If you're looking for strong low end power plan on needing some tranny work and a new turbo.

I have run both the quad 100hp chip and the tripple dog on my 06. The quad has more low end power than the tripple dog. I run the power pup on my 04.5 and it had great low end.

I can confirm this. Everyone I know that has switched from the cheaper/original BDPP to the Triple Dog has complained that it seems they detuned it, in particular at the lower rpm's. I can say that mine is almost too responsive at low rpm's when in perf. and definately in extreme cause it makes the cruise all but useless.I talked to Bully Dog and they said they are coming out with a new ver. of the orig. BDPP that solves this problem and splits the difference between the two boxes in throttle response.

I hope they do come out with something better. My BDDL works pretty well in conjunction with my TST, providing some fuel to spool the SPS66. It does not, however, impress me with hp. Extreme smokes less than tow, and total boost is not increased. Can't tell the difference between the settings, so I leave it on tow. They need to go back to their old programming. Bully Dog advertises 100+ hp gain. I can tell you, on my truck, there's no way. I dynoed with a 100hp Ramifier (and it made 104hp) and it plain spanks the Bully Dog. Stack those two, however, and you have some crazy power and throttle response. Pretty fun.

Mine doesn't smoke at all in tow or perf mode, even at WOT (which is great to me).

I am pretty sure we are about as aggressive on the bottom as you can be without issues. Issues meaning cruise problems, jerky throttle etc.

We are spinning another board that should eliminate any CB issues including those with linears, but it is going somewhat slow because of the monitor. I only have a couple ( 2 that I know of) of you that have CB problems anymore, so while I am going to do something for it, it is not on the very top of the list right this second. Once the whole monitor and accessories are finished the boards will be done.

Cool, if I haven't bought anything by then, I will definitely will give it a try.

Quad,
I have the 03 HO and can not use the new conection wire, that I heard brought the power on quicker. Any updates to the 305/555 in the near future?

Another question then...
How does the Juice compare with power then for these three?

Thanks

I have another question for ya Quad. I've been to your site, and didn't see your downloader listed. Do you still have it available? If so, how does it compare to the BDPP I currently have? Aren't they listed as having the same power increses of 130hp/250tq? I know the same company makes the controlers, but isn't the programing different? Let me know, cause I really don't feel like sending mine off to get it reflashed when they solve this problem. I would rather sell mine then get a superior product with better customer support.

No Downloaders here. Probably never will do another downloader for the Dodges. They have their place, but I had way too many goofy issues to want to deal with it. I did not like having the hours reset as well as a lot of other things that the downloaders cause.

In a Dodge I do not see the upside to a downloader in any way, shape or form. But then again that is just me.

I am not sure who built theirs, but I know for a fact that the software would have been different. I am not sure now that they are doing the triple dog if it is all the same or not??

Enough said then. Yeah Bully Dog!

Oh well, I guess I'll stick with wha I got. So far, i haven't had any major issues out of my BDPP but that's not to say it's perfect, and I wouldn't fight anyone over the issue of if it's better than someone else's product. I just wish I had known about you before I made my initial purchase. Back when I was in the market for my 1st power adder, I wasn't following the forums and there was only a few choices that I knew of. Banks Six-Gun, BDPP, Edge EZ, and TST PMCR. The Banks seemed too complicated and overpriced for power given, the TST was more power than I needed or wanted, and I didn't like the thought of a pressure only box. So it was kind of a choice through the process of attrition.

Capp35,

We have had great customer feedback from the Bully Dog down loaders etc. There are products that make more max HP and such but for the majority of users it's a great product and just what they are looking for. They are constantly updating and comming up with new tunes and options that you can download off of their site for free too.
The upside to a programmer is it is done thru the PCM, unlike an out board box that sends replacement signals to the sensors and injection systems. The programmers actually replace the stock info with new info for the parameters that need to be dealt with. Now that is about a thousand times harder to do as you have to totally understand the trucks operation and the PCM systems as a unit. See you're not just fooling the PCM with a programmer you're reprogramming it!

Streetsmoker,

I feel they did drop it back a bit on the bottom end to help the tranny live, if you really hammer it down low that load is very very hard on the tranny especially if you have a trailer in place! But the main powerband still feels the same to me, and pretty strong from what I have seen. if you want the ultimat and have built the tranny to handle it get the MP8 from TS and the Triple Dog as a stack. The 2004.5 we have here has that and it's pretty strong!!
