I don't know anything about Don M EDM aside from what I read on the net, but I recently had a PDR cam with DD3's installed. Here's the info with results:

If I had to do it over again, I would!

We have some sweet camshafts just about ready to be released. The lift is high enough that the valve springs have to be changed on 2 of the 3 grinds. Its a 14 month project on the 3rd gens. In a high power application I suggest the largest camshaft. It will coil bind the stock springs and could bend push tubes or break things without a spring change. We will have the a complete spring and cam package for a very competitive price. The springs are easily changed on the head and we will include the tool to do so in the kit. The cam starts life as a brand new casting, it is not a regrind.

Typically we see a rockwell hardness of 45 or less on regrinds and a stock cam of around 48 rockwell. Ours are out the door at a minimum of 51 rockwell. This allows the stock tappets to be reused and no wear to occur for hundreds of thousands of miles.

The springs are designed and alloyed to run for the life of the engine. Very clean alloy steel and a triple process during manufacture allowed them to pass an 11,000 rpm spring test. The pressure is higher than stock and WILL control the valvetrain at high boost and rpm with ease.

The larger of the 3 grinds was developed for everything from normal driving to all out competition.

Wow, that's great news about new camshafts! I think one of these will be my next mod and it seems like a really smart mod at that.

Don,
Are you going to offer a economy cam? Something might give 2-4mpg?

All the grinds will raise economy, lower EGT, and increase power.

The reason we have the smaller grind is to allow the guy who does not want to change his springs, retainers and locks and still be able to use an aftermarket cam.
We use all the lift and acceleration we can with the stock springs, but not enough to compromise them.

The bigger cams will require the updated springs. None of the cams require a piston flycut job and have more than enough piston to valve clearance. You dont need anything special to run a cam. Stock turbos, injectors, etc are all fine.

The updated springs, retainers, and locks will last a lifetime, even with the acceleration and lift we use. With todays alloys of steel, titanium, and chilled cast iron it is amazing what we can do VS the old days of camshaft grinding and springs.

Well, if THAT isn't the coolest thing I've heard in a LOOONG time.

Now, let's just see if they didn't fix my low-EGT-and-holding-clutch problem
