Bumper Covers???

Has any one put an SRT 10 bumper cover on there truck? I am thinking about doing this and wanted to know what all is involved in doing this.

I have an SLT. And just want a bumper that can be painted, maybe a sport bumper conversion? As I cannot paint the chrome one without it chipping all the time.

i think the difference in the sport bumpers and the SLT's are just a bumper cover. from the way it looks you would need to pull the top pad off of the SLT bumper and possibley the bottom also. then put the new cover on, dont quote me because i havent done it or even seen it done. i just gathered that from a quick glance at a sport one time. really didnt dig into it to see what all would be involved!

I am not positive but I belive if you get all the parts for the sport/Laramie style it should all bolt together. When I replaced the Laramie bumper on my truck with a SLT bumper I noticed the metal bumper under the Laramie skin is just painted not chromed.

Heck, if you were closer I would make you a deal on a complete '06 Laramie bumper in brand new condition.

the inner metal bracket that the bumper skin mounts to is different between the SLT and Laramie...you can do it pretty cheap..it's the painting part that's spendy
I went SLT to Laramie sport on mine....

Where did you buy the parts for it?

I bought my bumper in the DTR classifieds..so it came with everything including fog lights but all you would need is the bumper skin, air dam, metal backing bracket(what the skin mounts to) and maybe the fog light stuff...
the rest of the mounts are the same.
IIRC it was around 300 bucks for the skin and backing bracket when I asked my dealer...then another 180 for paint......so I guess when I said the painting was spendy I had it backwards

maybe it's cause I got my bumper for free after ups damaged it

Ive heard that media blasting the chrome off and then painting or powder coating works well. I was quoted $200 to have both bumpers blasted and powder coated.
