Bully Dog, best gas mileage setting

I just ordered a bully dog triple dog. I can't wait to install it! What setting are you guys running? What setting would probably give me the best gas mileage...tow or performance?

Would you recommend a download from the internet before installing the program on the truck?

i run mine in performance all the time, love it. I never really run it in tow mode that often, however i have been getting pretty good milage out of the performance mode. That is if i can keep from blowing black smoke everywhere

I run mine on tow 90% of the time gets slightly better than stock mpg when driving locally , (actually got a solid 2 mpg better towing my 28' box trailer to Florida in Oct. ) turn it up to performance once in a while, does seem to do even better mpg unloaded on performance, if you can avoid leaning on it which is why I run it on tow 90%

I would definitely recommend upgrading before downloading. They resolved some code conditions with later flashes. I found that the latest flash works better than the first one I had.

I wish the programming was as agressive as on the original BDDL's.

That said, I like the driveability a lot. I haven't noticed any MPG improvements.

I guess every truck is different.
In tow mode my mileage empty is down from stock by at least 1.5
Mileage is up towing in Tow mode compared to stock but...in Performance I see the best mileage towing and running empty.

Maybe because its an 04? I have a friend that owns an 03 and he gets the same results as me. I tow heavy and rarely see 1300 pre turbo in the mountains and I can maintain a good speed and rarely gear down.

I would run it in the performance setting with your foot NOT stuck to the floor for the best mileage gains.
