Brite Box causing "Lamp Out" indicator light

Is anyone else with a 3rd generation who has a Brite Box installed having the Lamp Out indicator light display when no light bulb is out?

The indicator is on when headlights are off. When I turn the low-beams on, there is a one or two second delay with the left light low-beam lamp, then the indicator light goes out when the headlight comes on. I sent Brite Box an email last year. He replied to check all connections; all connections were tight and I've used an electrical oxidation inhibitor compund at each plug connection terminal. Any wires that had to be crimped were instead soldered, coated with 3M Scotch Coat and covered with heat shrink tubing. Sent another email this year and have had no reply. My Brite Box is the Stage 3 . I will add however, other than this issue it works very well.

I had the same problem with the Brite Box on my truck. Give Baker Industries a call and talk to them about the problem. They sent me a new set of the Fogzilla boxes and so far (knock on wood) I have not had the problem again. That was about 6 monthes ago. If I remember correctly I spoke to Joel one of the owners.

Yes you have 2 boxes. The problem is the headlights on the 3rd gen trucks are controlled by the computer. I think he said it was called the FCU (Front Control Unit) and it can effect the lamp out light. The best thing to do is to call them and let them tell you a few things to try first. They had no problem replacing my boxes. The ones on my wife's truck have been fine.

It's easy to fix. Go to Radio Shack and get a... oh my gosh, I forgot what they are called!!! They only allow the current to run one way. It looks like a tiny little inline fuse or something. Call Joel, he will be able to tell you what it is called and what size to get.
I had the same problem on my truck and that fixed it. There was some feedback coming from the headlights or something and it caused the lamp out, until I turned the lights on. After putting the inline thingie on there, I never had the problem again.

you talking about load equalizers?

I have a 04.5 with the Brite Boxes, and my lamp indicator DOES NOT come on, so I guess I am lucky

Yes, and No. Yes, they need two boxes; one for each headlamp. They work individually. No, I am only having an issue with the one on the driver's side. It coincidently also illuminates the fog lights when on high. They work fine. Just the low-beam light causes the trouble.

I will try calling Joel. I only spoke with him on the phone once before I bought it. The rest of the time I emailed. At least I know I'm not the only one with the issue.

If he tells me to use a diode, I'll try it. Otherwise, I'm not sure what it will accomplish, or how.

DIODE! That's the word I was searching for! Now if I could only remember what size it was. There is a broad range of sizes that will work but there was one in particular that he recommended.

If you remember, send me a PM and I'll try it.

Thumbs up poor man's britebox

I've got the '05 service manual on CD, so I designed a wiring mod that keeps my low beams and foglights on when I turn on the high beams... works great and no lamp-out indicators!

I origanally tried that using relays. It didn't work. Since the ECM uses the monitering system with a low current that I couldn't figure out, I had to buy someone else's system.

If you have something that works, post it for others.

Which relay(s) did you use? How did you wire it? You can't jump the stock relay like the 2nd gens cause Dodge started switching the ground side of the circuit, and don't bother trying to swim upstream against the ECM...
Who's system did you buy?

The wiring mod I designed energizes the low beam filaments and fog light filaments when I switch the high beams on - all indicator lamps work as if the lights were stock working order.
