Box Problems and Warranty Issues

Has anyone out there with a Banks/Edge/Quad etc. box had any significant engine or tranny problems that could be related to the boxes? If so, how was the warranty issue, if any, resolved with the dealer? I just ordered a, Edge Juice for my 2004.5 auto, and will be getting an A2 when it comes out, and want to have my ducks in a row just in case...thanks in advance

It's a safe bet that once you start bombing your truck you become your own warranty station.

I would say you would have him by the *****.

Are you asking after the fact? as in you already bought it and gave up your trans warranty?

Yes, the trans is the weak point in your powertrain.

I would think he could be held somewhat liable, as you don't know any better as a consumer and he has a certain "liability" to make sure you understand that you voided your warranty if you bought/installed the box. Did you sign anything?

What about when you need new injectors because the increased fuel pressure cracked one/more injector body? What if the EGT's go through the roof and you don't realize it (did you buy gauges) and you break something?

My buddy has the same truck as me with Banks 6-gun and propane injection. Our friend is GM of the Dodge dealership we got our trucks from and he installed both the banks and propane kits on my buddy's truck. His Torque Converter burned out after about 30K miles and our dealer friend couldn't warranty it. Cut him some slack on the labor, but that was about it. Oh yeah, he runs 38" tires with stock 3.73 gears, too. No surprise about the TC.

You are taking a risk when you modify anything on the truck, but that doesn't mean your warranty is out the window. It's going to depend on what goes wrong and if your modification contributed to the problem. DC is the final word on warranty claims, but the dealer acts as DC's investigators and can be your personal insurance agent. Through typical politics the dealer can spin the story he sees and either defend you or just hang you out. It's a good sign that the dealer will support you if they're selling and installing the mods. You can't be stupid about it either by going out and trashing the tranny or running without gauges.

In my experience, I have had great support from my dealer.

short story long never take the truck to the dealer with the box on it. Assume that if something does happen it is 50/50. If they find evidence of a box your done game over unless you discused it with them and they are mod friendly.

Now on the flip side if you remove all traces of the modifications the dealer is going to waranty the truck because they won't know it was modifed.

also know that if the faliure is related to something obvioulsy stupid they may void. I saw a picture of a banks modified truck where the guy had not run gauges and the engine had been overheated so bad it burned the 3 rear pistons. neither banks nor dodge was standing behind that because it was obviouls the guy was just stupid. the guy was all ****** off but his egt's had to be just through the roof.

Bottom line is: If your going to bomb be prepared to be your own warranty station. OR If you wanna play be prepared to Pay.
