Boost with Smarty???
Boost with Smarty???
Im running the stock injector and stock turbo program on my smarty and level 7. My boost only hits around 30psi. My question is what would it do if I ran the program for Engines with stock injectors and aftermarket turbo*. Would That hurt any thing and would it allow for more boost?
You should fill out your signature in the user cp so people know whatcha got and what the right way to fix it is.
I have a dual disc clutch and some other junk and I run the wild tq mgmt on mine on level 9 everyday for the last few months and no problems. I dont drive stupid with it except for an occasional heavy foot here and there.
I have been told that it was both ok and not ok to run that on my truck, so I've just taken it that some people are just more protective of their investment than others.
I suppose the way I look at is if I kill my turbo in my truck that I need for work everyday in the process then I will have just forced myself into spendin the dough I've been hangin on to to buy a turbo that I wanted anyway.

I wish Marco would make a 42 PSI limit version for stock turbos.
W/O a boost fooler I, like you, only got 30 psi and EGT's rocketed. I feel 40-42 psi is OK for the stock Turbo occasionally. 45-50 is pushing it. IMHO.
By adding a Quad Boost fooler I can now get 40+ PSI. EGT's are better managed and I can use the fueling since the EGT's are more controlled when using the power.
The problem with running the Quad Boost fooler with the Smarty is that you can over boost if you do not watch your boost and adjust your fuel (right foot) to keep it from going into the 40+ area. You still need to watch your EGT's as they will still get into the red zone and you need to ease out of it accordingly.
Things I like about running it.. Less smoke, cooler EGT, ability to get to 40 PSI boost (unfortunately much more)
Things I don't like I have to watch both boost AND EGT which when things get busy is difficult. And one more thing to remove when bring to the dealer.
Just running the Smarty I would spike at 32PSI then instantly drop to 30
I bombed my gen 2 at 60,000 miles and it has over 275,000 running a #10 TST makes 35PSI easily and is still going strong.
I don't do burn outs sled pull or drag race... I do use the power up hills passing, on ramps and don't stomp on it I roll on the fuel and ease up (no turbo bark)
I am running the Wild Torque management on #9, Muffler delete and the Amsoil EaA 189
I really only see 35+ boost in 5th and 6th .... 4th only on steep uphills.
I would much prefer to not have to run the Quad and have the Smarty software allow me to make 42 PSI (and limit it there). Then I could remove the Quad and then not have to watch for over boost, just watch EGTs
Maybe some day...
The after market Turbo version I believe does not limit boost, allows unlimited PSI??
I have asked a few times for the differences in the SW. We have 3 different Torque management levels and 2 Turbo levels stock and no limit. A middle ground boost version (maybe 42 PSI limit or so) "Enhanced Boost" version would be real nice.
Marco has done a super job at developing different programs for different configurations and different years.

if still on a stock turbo program, quit your whining and do the download....
marko's good, but even he hasnt figured out how to get it to do updates without being conected to the computer

with my original 06 smarty software and a boost fooler, i was hitting around 46-48. the turbo was always barking like crazy. i updated to mod trq man and my boost is lower and egts are cooler. id recommend updating it and getting a boost fooler. quadzilla is where mine is from and i love it
