Boost Increase
Boost Increase
I am new to the board and new to the Diesel world so please bear with me! I have a 2004.5 Ram with the 600 motor and was wondering if there was a way to increase the boost mechanically? Does anyone make an adjustable wastegate for it or maybe one with a stronger spring? I have a 4 inch straight pipe exhaust and an AFE stage two intake with a matching torque tube and a TST on the way. How much will the TST push my boost up and how much can I expect out of my stock turbo? I have also heard that the Banks Hi Ram intake is a waste of money, what is your opinion? Thanks for your time!
The wastegate on the 325/600 is controlled by the ECM. I've got a friend that clamped off the vacuum hose to the wastegate actuator and his boot is up to about 42psi. Add boost without fuel, though, isn't going to net you any increase in power.
The TST is hell on the stock turbo. On the mid to higher levels, EGTs have the potential to get out of control quickly if you're not careful. That being said, it's supposed to be one of the most solid boxes on the market for making power. To date, I don't think that any other manufcaturer has produced a box that will add 500 tq at the tires. I've read where people say the TST will push the boost to ~50psi (I might be a little high there).
