bluemanthals transmission reviews???
bluemanthals transmission reviews???
so im' still waiting for the guy in texas to call me back for a quote but from calling like 4 shops in the oklahoma area they said for heavy duty trannys give blue menthals a call which everyone around here uses this place i think they employee like 50 people its a big operation.
anyhow they will rebuild the 48re in my truck with everything including a converter upgrade that they build plus 1yr 12kmile warrany and they say its upto 800hp which i find hard to believe but they come highly recommended...... also it has a billet input shaft included for the price.
however for 4,000 - 4200 installed
can anyone tell if they have ever bought one of their trannys before a friend has had one of thier gas trannys in his chevy for a while and he loves it and it shifts real firm but i dont have any diesel reviews..............

my .02 is basically this--
the tranny is one place you don't want to shave a few pennies in hopes it all works out right. Too expensive a mistake when your average tranny Joe, who might be really good otherwise but is not experienced with high HP diesels and doesn't really know what he is doing with them... throws in the average rebuilt torque converter or pump for instance and you blow it up a few months later... is that really his fault or yours? Choose one of the known and proven guys to go with, pay the fee and don't look back. You will be happier in the long run.

ya i just preferr to do it local in case of warranty issues ya know kind of hard to get towed to dallas but the bluementhals i was talking about has grown alot bigger then the bbb said they were at 50 now they have 150employees here is info about them.
Although the Blumenthal Companies have grown to over 150 employees, the Blumenthal family maintains strict control over each division and together they strive to offer quality OEM products, and the best possible service. "This year our total sales should exceed $25 million," Scott added

Blumenthals is excellent. A tour of the place was amazing and the quality control is first rate. I have a manual transmission from them and no nothing about their auto transmission dept. I even towed my dually on a gn trailer with a 1/2 ton sb gasser 318ci dodge from NC so they could do the 6 speed swap. It took me 2.5 days to get there.
I know nothing about their automatic transmissions, but the manuals are the best I have used. I went through 4, yes 4, 5 speeds from Standard in Ft Worth before giving up and calling Blumenthals.
Fast service, fast shipping, helpful people. I needed some custom stuff done and it was no trouble. I only paid a tick over 100 bucks for shipping as well.

I would certainly purchase brand name parts, then get them to install the parts. I.E. Torque Converter ( Goerend - Limited LIFETIME warranty!! ), Valve body......
I mean this is like working out at the gym, upper body only...and expecting your legs to keep up.

well since the lack of info on 48re's from there I decided to go with James northum in dallas im heading down there this friday.... bluementhals would have been awesome though because they are right here by me haha
Ya got a good review from Don M, what more could you ask for?
He said he didn't know about their autos, but if they're that good with sticks you would think the knowledge would carry over. Plus for $4200 installed you're getting a heck of a deal.
I know there are a lot of people who are cautious about shops that aren't Goerend, DTT etc, but even those guys had to start somewhere.
I know $4200 is a chunk of change, but you have two positive reviews ( I don't know what Zack Birge told you in the PM) and that would be good enough for me. Plus you can't beat local because even if it doesn't work, at least you "know where they live" and you could put a transmission in their bed at night.

Oh, you went with James Northum. He can build a great trans. I dont say this because he does sell some of our products. I said this for years previous to him even being our dealer. I sent him many customers and they are all happy.
Good Choice.
