Blue Chip

I talked to a person from blue chip diesel yesterday. He told me they were coming out with a box. They just didnt want to be the first ones to come out with the first box this time, because they paid the price for being first in the 01 dodge with the cummins. he said they are learning alot from the first ones out right now. He woulnt tell me exactly what there doing all he said is that it will be adjustable in the cab it will bee around a 100 hp box but it consentrate on low end torque completely on low end torque. He talked like it wouldnt be for a couple of months before you see them out. Also he got into about some of the bad things about the CR engine he said that the engine itself is just wonderful it is all of the components that arent that good like the turbo he said is just big enough for the stock engine and that is about it, also the ecm is very touchy on these engine, but also like he said cummins built it like that on purpose to screw up all of the aftermaket guys with boxes and the injectors etc. Like he also said why else would they put the turbo so stinling close to the side of the engine. Reson so that all of the aftermarket guys have a hard time building a new one and that is also why the ecm is so touchy. So there trin to built a box fullproof. Blue Chip Diesel is a very respected company might be interesting to see what they come up with. Whats your .02

I agree on the turbo, it is just big enough to run the stock engine. It is the most restrictive turbo to date for the Dodge/Cummins.

I think to say that they are trying to screw up the aftermarket is a little crazy myself. This is one of the easiest trucks to get power out of with the exception to the old 12v trucks. Basically raising the rail pressure is very very easy. Now to do it nice and smooth with good low end power and adjustability is a little tougher, but it is still easier than the 98.5-02 which is done with can bus. The turbo is small, but they did this to help improve throttle responce since the common rail did not have as much torque at a lower rpm. Also if you ever watch the throttle voltage at the rail you will see that they hammer rail pressure at the beginning to make the truck feel stronger than it really is.

I think if Cummins was trying to keep people away they would have made things tougher.

Just my $.02
