Blow Off Valve
Sounds REALLY good for preventing turbo bark, I think that I just found a reason for somebody with an auto to WANT to have one of those. When you are pulling a really heavy sled and get to the end, where you just can't pull anymore...you kinda tend to let off the skinny pedal really quickly so that you dont' start with the wheel hop and end up breaking something...so at the end of a sled pull, I could see it being something worth having on the truck...however, due to the fact that would really be the ONLY time it would really be in use, I still don't think it would be worth the money...unless my truck was sled pulling competitively on a VERY regular basis...

I Have Been Thinking Of Taking A Regular Blow Off Valve And Using That With A Vaccume Pump That Is Activated By A Micro Svitch On The Throttle Linkage To Activate The Vaccume Pump. I Already Have A Cheep Blow Off Valve And A Vaccume Pump Used For Rv's Sitting In My House But Don't Have A Way To Weld A Bung On To The Tubing. Otherwise This Whole Thing In Parts Is Under 200 Dollars. But Until I Figure Out How To Connect The Valve I Have No More Info.
Didn't mention where you got the BOV, but most of them are designed for low boost gassers and will probable start blowing open around 20psi. And with your microswitch idea, how would you have the valve close as soon as the pressure is vented? Seems like you would have it open all the time at idle allowing unfiltered air in.
I have had the BD Turbo Guard installed for a while now. It does work on an auto, especially one with a custom 3 disc TC and fully built transmission. I barked my SPS66 almost anytime I was at reasonable throttle and had to let off, no matter how easy I tried. And for the times that you had to let off during acceleration, such as entering freeway and then some jerk pulls in front of you, barking was a sure thing. I don't think you can justify the cost on a stock truck, but in my case it eliminated all the barking during normal daily driving. It is expensive and requires someone with experience to install and tune properly, but I am glad I had one installed.
I am thinking I would like it for when my truck goes into overdrive under moderate acceleration, or when I am pulling my trailer, and I am going up a hill, and it runs out of air,,, it would work for that wouldnt it??

Thanks for the correction 79
, still happened in certain driving situations out of my control.
