Best way to debadge??

I'm in the middle of trying to debadge my truck. What's the best way to do it? I've been using a heat gun, but it's a P.I.A.

this is a chase it down answer.

type the word "vinyl' into the search engine. you will come up with a thread about something I can't remember...sorry. the thread then goes onto to discussing blacking out the b-pillar with vinyl and in this thread someone gives some great tips on debadging.

Run fishing line behind the badges! Then most likely there will be a hair of sticky left, and that is up to you what you want on your paint!

Warm the badge with a hair dryer (heat guns are too hot) and run dental floss behind the badge to free it up.

Dental floss, hot day, go to town.

When theyre off, use a 3m eraser for bodywork, itll take the adhesive off no problem....

I second the 3m eraser and fishing line. No heat gun needed. Works quick and clean.

We don't need no stinkin badges

Don't tell anyone but I work for the company that makes the stuff behind the emblems.
MY 07's badging has got to be the ugliest I have ever seen and they are all coming off in the spring.
I will check with the tec guys tommorrow to see if they have a recommended method for removal but in the meantime I will say they do not like to be too close to a pressure washer held nearly flush with the body panel.

I only removed my "big horn" badges, but I just pulled those right off and I used the liquid 3M adhesive remover from the automotive store. It is in a little square container, like the older metal paint cans, but pint sized. Soaked a rag with that, held it on there for a few seconds, and it wiped right off, then I washed and waxed it.

One more problem. In certain lights you can still see the outline of the letters. I've gone over it with the eraser wheel and polished it with the DW849 and a light polish. There isn't anything "on" the paint. It seems to me that the paint needs to see the light of day for awhile to possibly cure. If it doesn't I think I'll try to compound it, but if it's in the paint and not the clearcoat I think I'm SOL.
