best programmer/chip

Just bought a 2006 5.9, only has 120k, seems pretty sluggish as far as power. Been getting 20.5 miles for fuel consumption according to the overhead computer. This is bone stock. Was looking at an stealth programmer for some better fuel mileage and maybe a little more hp for passing the steeper grades we have here in Oregon. What does the forum group have for some advise. There is a lot out there, so I guess this will be an good place to start. Anybody run an stealth? I don’t have any gauges yet, I don’t know if that’s just for the bully.

Overheads aren’t accurate, mine reads over 20 mpg but hand calculated is around 16.
any time you bump up the power an egt gauge is a must.
im trying to decide between an
evolution cts2 or a smarty touch both with egt probe.

I'd go with EFI. My Smarty served me well for years but EFI runs smoother and especially cleaner.

I picked a used edge evolution tuner, it adds power but seems sorta weak on the bottom and haven’t seen any increase in mpg. I’m wondering how a smarty jr would compare to the evolution?

Edge products run hot. I'd scoop up a used Smarty Jr. No plumbing either.

The Smarty I had on my 2003 was set at 90HP and functioned flawlessly for years until the truck was totaled...I downloaded it before the truck went to CoPart, and sold it separately......Ben

Same here. Good cheap power.
I have EFI now which is another step forward but Smarty Sr. served me well. It's been installed on my friend's '05 now for years.

Edge CTS2 Insight is great for gauges, more bang for the buck.
'06 and up EFI live.
'03-'05 Smarty S-06 or jr is a good choice or if interested in custom tunes HP tuners are popular.
I have been running the Smarty S-06 Pod for a couple of years with no issues, Was using an Edge Evolution CTS and like said a bit hot and smokier.
