Ok guys I'm posting these qustions for a friend of mine and here we go..
My buddie just bought a 05 3500 dodge 4x4 crew cab with the automatic trans. "truck has 200 miles on it right now"
we pull a 30 ft. halmark edge thats 6500 lbs empty and loaded with the car and golf cart and tool,Nitrous,fuel, generator and SPARE PARTS it tips the scale at 12000 to 14000 lbs.
now we do ALLOT of traviling and one of our biggest feats is Mt.Eagle on the trip to florida from So. Illinois. I think the grade on the mountin is 30 of 35 % grade for 2 to 4 miles "I think". Now what he is looking at for sure is the BD 5" cat back for sure but the rest he would like some help on. he had thought about stacking the ez + power pup and the banks High ram + a tourqe tube "intake" and filter kit but whats the Hot set up thats safe pulling but when its time to play you can "Kick it up a notch" LOL. thanks Shannon

 

When pulling heavy loads of that size, I don't think you'll be able to run any of the modules on a high setting with the stock turbo. You definitely want to get gauges first if you plan on modding and towing that much - egt being mandatory. Since you will be able to play when unhooked, I suggest getting something with in cab adjustability, so you can crank it up a bit when you're empty or towing the trailer unloaded. Do some searches on the various power modules, and look for doug's box comparison. If you like a lot of digital features the edge juice with attitude seems to get good reviews, but I prefer the new quadzilla module. As far as I know, the banks high ram does not add any hp, so I'd tell him to save his money. I'd recommend looking at a Scotty3 intake or the AFE setup.

 

dont forget to upgrade that tranny too! and also i don't think he needs a 5" system. the stock truck has 4" turbo back. just straight pipe it or get a free flowing muffler

I called Banks , Bully dog and edge and all three for them said we could easly run there moduals in the 60 to 90 hp setting? dose that sound about right? as for the tranny I don't think he's wanting to do that JUST YET.. LoL but with that said all three companies said with there modulas would turn the power increase off inbetween shifts.. any truth to that?? thanks Again guys...

 

he may not WANT to do the tranny yet but with all that he will HAVE to do the tranny... maybe your not understanding, with all that power your talking about and hauling that load, that tranny isn't gonna last long

 

What typ of upgrades should be done to the tranny to help? TQ, VB???? thanks
