Best dry Air Filter to mount on K&N FIPK tube setup?
Best dry Air Filter to mount on K&N FIPK tube setup?
I had a K&N on my 2004, and I had to take a toothbrush & Carb Cleaner and clean the turbo blades every other oil change or so (at least it seemed like it)
I gave the K&N away when I got my 2006, but the guy sold his dodge this week, and said I could have the K&N back.
i am thinking I will run the nice round K&N tube, and just put a dry BHAF on it.
any idea which filter will within the confines of the FIPK shield & stuff?
my "air filter minder" is ALWAYs in the red, even after I change the filter.
i saw a thread on a new mopar filter, but for free, i figured i wring the last bit of value out of the old K&N setup.

John, don't take chances with your air filter, spend the money and get a good one. That crap that was on your turbo blades is also shooting through your intercooler, intake, valves, pistons, rings, cylinder walls, exhaust side of your turbo... even down to your crank and rotating assembly in the bottom... pressurized it will do a lot of damage that will be latent for now, but expensive later.
If you call a diesel performance shop and tell them what the ID of your tube is, they'll be able to help you out with a filter that will fit it. Maybe even call John G at Pre Diesel. Don't know if you know, but he moved his shop down the road to Wando road.

The Donaldson powercore filters that Volant sells have been excellent for me. Silica numbers in my 7500 mile oil analysis are 2 ppm. They sell them in numerous sizes to fit other brand intakes.
