best 64mm turbo
Here is a run I made at Mopar at the Rock. This is showing how it launched and spooled, it is a six speed so almost no boost. I even red lighted, the first time ever, I have always left on the last yellow, but it got me with a -0.028 reaction time. This is the 64/65/13ss, Smarty 4.11 and TST. I had the temp. limit set too low so it defueled before the end of the 1/4, so that is why it isn't a good pass. The black truck is a hopped up SRT10. Tac

With stock turbo and towing my bass boat with Smarty on level 7, I would easily hit 1500deg before the end of the ramp getting on the interstate. Now with the 64/65/13ss, the same type run I can't even get 1400. So it cools well. Hope this helps.
BLWNSMKE - Be cautious about advice from members with manual trannys (no offense guys).
The automatic is a totally different animal! Most members have not driven both to fully understand the differences.
TNLoneWolfe, post # 22........ and Spooler, post # 26, are right on.
In 2004 I went to a HX-40/HX-55 Hybrid (basically a 64/72/14) and hated the slow spoolup. With big injectors and a TST box I was a smoke machine below 20 mph unless I turned the box off. The newer turbos you are looking at are much better at spooling up than what we had to work with 3-4 yrs ago, but be warned........ too big is no fun to daily drive with an automatic tranny!

Everytime I talk to someone with an II 62 or 64...it's a total love affair!
I just don't know the HTT well. I'm impressed with their company...the one time I sp with Paul(?).
I love their 2nd Gen Manifold. Been a winner for me!
If they are working with the lattest Borg Warner S300's, should also be great?

Thats exactly what I was looking out for.. Jeez this is a hard decision
I have ran the 65 and 71 wheel on a 62 with a manual trans. There is definitely a noticable lag going to the larger 71.Can't say I have much seat time in an auto but if they are slower to spool a turbo than the manuals I would stay away from the 71 for street use.
Took a ride in my friends truck the other day.He has the 62/65/13 and I could really tell the difference between his and mine.(both manuals)Much quicker to build boost. We haven't raced but I feel sure he would eat me up the 1st couple hunrdred feet! Now on top end, thats another story.

If it were me, I'd do the 64/65/13.... and live with a bit warmer top end.
Single turbos (all turbos actually) are a compromise. Remember you spend 99% of your driving time at less than WOT! And 3rd Gens handle the higher EGT's a lot better than 2nd Gens. JMO

We lead you to the water now DRINK..........LOL
71 wheel on a 62 is barable driving empty but somewhat smokey if you stab it from a stop. I had help setting my truck up with the TC and already have 4.10 gears with stock tires. I do pull heavy and it does get hot starting out but once going it is O.K. I would go with a 65 wheel if I were you. I bought my turbo new/used so to speak knowing I may not like it but with HTT that can be fixed. So far, I can deal with it. I haven't pulled with it yet with the Smarty. We will see how I like it after that. The Smarty fuels more down low that is for sure, hence the smoke. We shall see.
