BED RUG install, any suggestions
Mine's been installed for about 14 months now in my '03 and no problems.
You'll need to find a warm place. The velcro won't stick in the cold. Find a heated garage and let the truck warm up overnight, or maybe use a heat gun. But the velcro holds the thing in, so if the glue doesn't stick...
The only thing I did differently was cut a little slot in each corner of the rug to mount the tie downs on top. Just take them off, install the rug and then find the holes. I used a small exacto knife to cut little slots in the rug, put in the little plastic gasket thingy, then bolted the tie downs back on..
Also, I installed bed rail caps (plastic Bushwackers) after the Bedrug. There wasn't a problem on the side rails, but I'd suggest putting a tailgate cap on first, then putting the velcro for the rug on after that. I peeled mine off the tailgate and tried to re-stick, but they didn't. I ended up going to Orchard Supply and getting some very heavy duty velcro strips. No problems now.
Very easy install, good directions. I've had gas, oil, tranny fluid and diesel spills, concrete, bricks, dirt, leaves, gravel and I just washed it out and/or vacuumed. No signs of fading or wear, and it sure saves the knees when crawling around back there. Great product, I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Good luck with the install.
