BDTD, X2 stack
I just picked up an X2 in the classifieds to stack with my BDTD and Crazy Larry, got a few questions:
- Can I leave my boost fooler on or should I remove it?
- The X2 ads pressure and has a rail gauge which I've never had before, what is the stock rail pressure and how high can I go without damaging my injectors?
- Is it best to run CL then adjust the pressure with the X2 or is it best to turn down the BD and turn up the X2?
- Next time on the dyno, what settings you guys recommend? Think this stack will get me over 500 hp? (I got 443 with CL)
Thanks
Will

Hey fisher,
it seems were both getting closer to each other you get the horn yet to get the extra power i have on you!!! haha j/k. Remove the boost fooler and sell it you no longer need it since the quad does it for you.
i just tried the X2 today with the BD and i see lower pressure than i was with Smarty by about 1000psi, cruising at about 16900-18000at 70mph with the close horsepower programs, this was without pressure though. When i added pressure they were pretty similar but my smarty still had more pressure usually 20-21000 at 70 which i consider to high for cruising which i think should be around the bullydogs numbers.
For maximum horsepower id say download the pressure tunes turn it to 4 and turn crazy larry on and you should be good to go. Aftwr looking various places people with simialr mods to us have gotten very close to 500hp sometimes with less sometimes with more.

Was just checking out the downloads at the QUAD site, I guess I'd download the "stack" tune but there's also a stack tune with the first setting being a "mileage" setting, does that really give you better mileage?
If I want good mileage I should run that setting and "stock" on the TD or¿?

my mileage has been going up using the mileage tunes. I would get the city mileage tune because it comes in at 1200 rpms and not 1600 rpms like the normal mileage tune, gives a nice little kick.

The 'stack' download only does pressure so there shouldn't be any timing issues. I think it turns the rail pressure down to less than stock so I'd need to run the lower settings on the BD, like stock or something.
I'm skeptical of any "mileage" improvement claims, so far nothing I've done has been of any benefit economy wise, they've made it a lot more fun though!

Finally put the X2 in yesterday, only tried it on level 3 of the city stack tune so far, looking for input on what the maximum rail pressure I wanna see is?
Has anyone blew their injectors running the X2 stacked with a BDTD or Samrty?
Pretty impressive from what I've sen so far...

i can imagine the truck got kinda quick haha...For daily driving you really dont need to go past 20~21kpsi so level 1 or 2 and you should be cruising at 16kpsi~19kpsi depending upon speed...
So you happy i suggested the X2 now that you see how it stacks??

Definitely happy with the performance for sure, I can really smoke people out now too. Was stopped at a light, as we started moving I laid a patch of diesel poop, the guy behing me actually stopped and tried to driver around the smoke, I laughed.
Today a guy in some kinda VW tried passing me on the right, I think I shocked him. After that we hit an up hill part in the road, I shifted to 6th and lugged it a bit, really smoked him out, he actually pulled over too..
So I like the stack, I just don't feel confident I know what I'm doing as far as rail presure goes.

You'll learn as time progresses.Remember theres no need to exceed 21kpsi on daily driving unless its a steep grade. I usually stayed on level 2 at the most but 1 isnt bad either for a little low,mid end power. But keep in mind i have an auto so driving may be completly different. What rail pressure figures are you seeing?
I really miss how much i used to be able to smoke people out like before but i cant feel a power loss. Than again i use the bullydog low end power feature to make my tranny shift better since the tranny build it needed it to help get rid of the hunt.
just remember you may get better fuel milage with higher pressure but you gotta be careful when it comes to getting off the throttle. Pressure spikes are the worst when it comes to added pressure so try to slowly roll of the throttle to bring chances fo damage to a minimum since you already have filtration.

I've seen 23 or 24 at times on level 3, I'm running the 'city stack' tune and level was is detuned or something to give me better mileage. I was running 3 but went to get 1½ yards of top soil and turned it down to 1 and the BD to 'performance' and it still seemed more ballsy than performance alone. The boost fooling seems to be working well.
I'll be heading out with the trailer Friday, will start with those settings, normally it tows well running 'performance'.
You think cranked to level 5 with CL would be okay for the dyno? Justin tells me he's never heard of anyone damaging their injectors with the X2.
What have you switched to jigger?
