BD short shift install

I just got done installing a BD short shifter on my 6-speed. Just wanted to pass along to anyone thinking about this BOMB that it's worth the money IMO. It definitely shortens the throw and seems to tighten up the shift pattern a good bit. It shifts more like a car's manual gearbox. The install was pretty easy, although, the directions could have been a tad clearer...nothing you'd pull your hair out over though. The package includes everything you will need to complete the install outside of the tools.

Good to hear, this is yet another mod I have on my list of things I'd like to do. Power first though...

Pictures of your install during the process? Where'd you pick up your kit through?

No pictures from the install...the pictures in the instructions cover everything that you would need to see.

I ordered mine from Geno's Garage...it was in stock and received it on the third day after ordering.

I have had one on for over 60,000 miles, and would not recommend it,if I knew before I bought what I know now I would stay with the stock shifter.

The increased pressure required over stock is not worth the shorter shift, after all this is a truck transmission with large gears which don't like being forced at higher speeds. Just my opinion!

'bout 100k on mine. I like it. Watch the install they leak if everything is not perfectly clean.

synthetics

How many of you with the short shifters are running synthetics? Does the synthetics make up the difference in force necessary to shift? Another way of asking is, Does it take the same amount of force as stock length with stock oil?

I suspect that I was one of the original purchasers of this kit and bought it directly from BD as no one else was selling the kit at that time. No problems with the operation and have about 40,000 miles on it.
As mentioned in previous posts and here, you need to be extra picky on the sealing because if you don't, it is guaranteed to leak. Also as mentioned many times in the past, the instructions leave a bit to be desired, especially when it comes to removing the palstic parts.
Other than that, it is a good mod.

I changed my trans oil once used the syncromesh stuff from a parts store with the DC number on it. Don't know if it is synthetic or not.

I do believe Syncromesh is synthetic, but I'm not 100% sure.
