Well last weekend at the dyno I put down 518hp with just a smarty and intake, exhaust. A guy with the same year truck put down 480hp with the whole big hoss buddle. Guess who paid less.

518 with just that? no lp or tranny upgrades or anything? Thats saying that smarty adds about 200hp!?!?

actually it would be more like 250 hp, since stock 325 hp CTD's usually have about 270 hp at the rear wheels.

True but they say that tranny, exhaust, and intake add a few numbers. So 200 take or add a few.. But is that right? I didnt think they added that much

i thought that TNT R with full supporting mods was good for around 230 hp, but there is no mention of any fuel mods, springs, etc., in Seelow's sig, so i don't think he would be running it.

come to think of it, how would a CTD running a Big Hoss Bundle pick up 200+ hp? Banks only claims 126 hp on CTD's, and the guy Seelow is talking about put down 480 hp. i would think low 400's would be a good number for someone running the Big Hoss Bundle.

I for one had the BANKS BIG HOSS BUNDLE on my 03. Cost me an arm and a leg. Took a full 10 hr day to install, and performed as they stated. Defuled alot, little to no smoke, and ok power gain when it wasnt defueling.
Problem is for the money you could get alot more. And while you are defueling and having to deal with alot of torque management, others will blow past you.
I know many have said the same thing but just wanted to give an opinion from someone who has gone that route, and had that exact same kit. I think I paid $3200 for mine, and it came with a K&N drop in filter , so I had to pay more cash for an AFE stage 2.
You could do a valve body, converter, straight pipe, smarty, lift pump,a do it yourself intake, and still have cash left over and one heck of a nice truck that would run circles around a Banks truck.
Anyway good luck, Ryan.

Reading your sig seems to suggest your truck is a toy, so i'd treat it as such. Banks is geared towards the folks that don't want to tinker, put it on and forget it. If you want to have fun with your truck listen to the folks around here! Lots of good advice.

Thanks for the suggestions, I think I'm going to start shopping around for a smarty, intake and exhaust first.

Is the smarty something you just plug in and tune, but not controlled while driving? Like some other products out there i.e. Edge, etc.

I would suggest picking up either a muffler delete pipe or a 5" Donaldson (depending on you obnoxious level), a good airfilter, and a Smarty set to as high as the trans can handle, Take all the extra $$$ and put it into the trans so you can crank up the Smarty.

Don't forget your gauges. I would say at a minimum EGT/Boost/Rail Pressure and Fuel (lift pump) pressure. Let me welcome you in advance to the Smarty world

Depends how hungry for power you are? If you have any inkling that you will get bitten by the power bug, go for the Sr. You won't be disapointed. The Jr. seems real popular with the guys that are more on the towing side.

I want the power, is the Jr only capible of 100hp increase? What about the Sr, it seems by looking at the ads it has more settings. I also want to gain fuel mileage, since I lifted my truck with 37"s I only get about 14 in town. I also want to have a performance exhaust with load sounding out the back.
