After a year or so of the Chrome wheels I have grown tired of the look. Don't think I liked it all that much any way. They did resolve my rubbing issues with the stock wheels. Function over style, that and I got tired of spending a hundred bucks every time I swapped tires around.

The migration of the truck, I really need to come up with a cool name for it.

I guess Urban Assault Vehicle, or the UAV may be a good one. Suggestions are welcome.

I just picked up his missing nut for the powdercoater's today...

 

Got a bit busy yesterday and did not get the pics posted.

Then the battery died in the camera so the overall photo does not look all that great. Ill get more done today.

As for the wheel finish, Duplicolor wheel paint.

Cost $12 for 2 cans, covered the 4 wheels. I also bought the clear but decided not to use it. I coated teh back of the wheels with some flat black I had laying around. So total cost, $30, and I have two cans of clear to use if I need.
Why paint, I had a bad experience with powdercoating and decided this was easier to fix if I scratched them... To fix, just remove wheel from truck, sand and paint. No need to have the tire removed from the wheel and all that additional cost surrounding powdercoating.

I have a couple more projects to finish on the truck this week, Ill add more info as I get it done. I will also have some better pics.

How many coats did you put on the wheels and how long do you think it'll last? I may go this route, ive been wanting to get my h2's painted or PC'd for along time.

 

3 coats

hoping it will last a few years, of not touch up every year is not that tough. The color will match brake dust as well, lol.

Forgot to mention, I machined out the wheels with a rotozip and a flush trim bit. It was tooooooo easy. Mounting was not a issue.

No to just get rid of the Weld wheels.

 

Can you get that duplicolor paint at the local parts stores or do you have to order it?
