I installed the autometer Lunar gauges overhead and just like the instructions say attach the white power wire for the lighting to the dimmer switch.The problem is that they don`t dim,they flicker some then flash on off then all go out.Is it that the Lunars series are not suppose to be attached to the dimmer switch but to constant power(I believe that Luner may not have an actual bulb in them)I took all three white wires ,sliced together into one then into the OR/WH striped wire going to the back of the dimmer switch.That wire dimmed when tested.

 

I have the Autometer Z-series and they are spliced into the dimmer switch with no problems dimming. It sounds like you have a bad connection.

 

On my truck the dimmer wire is OR/BLK.

 

I have Lunar series as well. I connected to dash lighting - not dimmer. Lunar uses some type of phosphor coating to illminate the guage. Not a bulb. No dimmer required.
