ATS Stage 3 Tranny

I ordered an ATS TQ, VB, and the commander for my 48RE. I am wondering if anyone has tried this route on a 48RE and how happy they are with it? I suppose I will find out myself some time soon but would like some feedback from others using ATS products.
TIA

I have Stage 5, but we are identical in terms of driveabiltiy. Best mod yet to the truck. You don't know what you are missing till your power actually gets to the ground!

Tranny upgrades

I think tranny upgrades are about the best $$$ you can spend. Even if you stay stock,...the power gets to the ground and if you choose to upgrade your power and bomb then your ready for it. Also mpgs will go up and love those crisp shifts. Good choice.

I agree completley. i went the ATS route a couple years ago and is actually one of the reasons i haven't traded for a newer truck because i did not want to lose the tranny in this one

If you need convincing or more info i suggest you call and talk directly to Clint at ATS. Nice person and without a doubt the most knowledgable source for his products.
Good Luck

Cold Diesel and bchesley:

I don't have a 3rd Gen. Dodge CTD but do have two (2) 2nd Gen Dodge CTD's,
a heavily BOMBED 1996 and a newer 2002. Both of my trucks have the ATS
TripleLok Stage V Transmissions in them and I am very, very happy with them.
The unit in the 1996 Dodge CTD (see signature below) has 90,000 miles on it!!
I recently took the ATS TripleLok Converter out and sent it back to Clint to have
the newer "Mixed Flow" Stator put in as it has better torque multiplication than
my "first gen" ATS converter. Upon inspection, my 90,000 mile ATS TripleLok
Converter was worn very little. It was still in very good shape despite the
very hard abuse I have given it over the last four (4) years including very
heavy towing, over 50+ drag race launches and alot of street racing!
With respect to your newer 48RE transmissions; last May I was out in
Denver, Colorado and as usual went by to see my friends at ATS. While
there, Clint let me drive his 2004 Dodge CTD CR which at that time had
the new "ATS Mixed Flow Stator" along with an ATS Twin Turbo System.
I can tell you that Clint's truck would fly! The "off-line" acceleration of
the truck was excellent and the shifts smooth but firm. I don't think that
either of you would be disappointed in the ATS Transmission for either of
your trucks. I know that I really love both of mine and the new converter
is awesome!

Good luck to you guys!

Thanks for the input. I dont plan on ever going to crazy. I want to pull a moderate load and stay around 400-425hp. I guess I just need to start saving some pennies!!

if you are going to pay for it in pennies you'll need the cummins to pull em to the bank

CrashCade:

You can give ATS a call @ 1-800-949-6002 and they can give you the closest
dealer near you. They keep an updated direstory state-by-state of all their
dealers.

I am wondering at what point HP wise, I have to worry about the input shaft? I don't want to tear apart the rest of the tranny and take out the new TQ and VB. Any iput appreciated.

Your stock shafts should be ok till about 400hp provided you dont shift locked to locked, then all bets are off on the input shaft. I have seen the stock input brake below 300hp shifting 2-3 locked. Some break some dont. With a 48re I would be worried about your planetary thrust washers. The last 2 I have had open they were worn out at less then 30k miles on a 04 trucks. Tim
