Artic Leash
Artic Leash
I really feel gifted. My plant manager calls me into his office this morning (so of course I go to the bathroom first) and say he has something for me (thinking pink slip
) But anyway he has an artic leash. he said he bought one for his truck and loved it so much he gave me one.....
I'm like this is great (he's a dodge guy and I do a lot of work on his truck) so here it is sitting on my desk and I have 10 hours till I can do anything with it.
Anyway, anybody else got one of these?? These things are huge?? I mean it's about 12 inches in diameter, and was wondering where anybody mounted theres?? I'm most likely going to mount it on the outside of the frame rail on the passenger side and then plug the plug in from there. (Keep it where the stock one is so it will pull it to the hood, use a ball to keep it from scratching) Anybody else have pictures of theres???

Umm it's something I make and I'm selling
. No, not really but i wish. I do believe this is within the rules (mods if not please deleate) however it's basically a retractible cord real for our trucks. So when you have to plug in during the winter, you simply grab the plug and plug it in up to 13 feet away (much nicer than using a extension cord). Then you just let it retract back up in the housing.
The problem with store bought ones (other than the plugs are wrong) is that there only good for 10 amps or so, and you need one higher for our trucks (at least it's recomended) What happens is the cord heats up in the case and people have melted the store bought units. This one is set for 15 amps at 13 feet, 13 amps at 20 feet. I onlyl have the 13 foot one. I've included a link, and I think it's within rules as I don't think anybody as a vendor on here sells them?? If so buy it from a Vendor on DTR for sure.

Yeah, I did notice that on the instructions, I think they kinda make it sound like you can leave it rolled in, at 13 feet it's not long that it would actually be a problem. But it does say to pull it out while plugging it in.
No work dosn't charge us, however not many of us have diesels, and the fact that we all park in a huge garage is cool. Last year they used 300 tons of salt on a place that's only like 100 acher's. I mean one person falls and we go from 30 tons to 300 tons, need 4x4 just to get through the salt, it's bad.
Anyway I'm taking it not many people have this thing so when I do finally put it on I will take step my step pictures to show what I have done. They say you have to mount it so that it goes straight in and out of the housing, so what I may do is use 2 pulleys so taht I can have it in the stock location (don't really want to drill holes and all) figure that way in the summer I can put it right back where it was factory.

I don't know how the reel is secured but some people will steal anything that isn't bolted down. My truck sits at the airport for 2 weeks at a time while I go to work. A few shifts back someone got my buddies cord, easy way to solve this is to park on a bit of your cord so they can't get it loose.
Cord
It bolts underneith your truck, and only the cord comes out (that's up to you where it comes out) So yes they could steal it but it wouldn't be as easy as stealing an extension cord. Must be some people if there stealing your heater cord (or maybe they need it for the plane engine warmer, in that case be glad
)
I like it and like I said there around 99-150 depending on where you get it, but heck for free I'm gonna put it on. Think I'll bolt it right behind the passenger side front air ****, and have it pull out right in the stock spot. I'll take pictures. The product is actually made in Alaska and they say the cord is pliable to -56 (I hate when cords get rock hard in the winter) I'll get some better pics up once I have a few minutes Wednesday.
