ARP custom age head studs
ARP custom age head studs
I've seen these studs mentioned in other threads but don't know too much about them. I see them advertised on the PDW web site and they say the 12 mm studs made of ARP's custom age 625 + gives you the strength of the 14mm studs without having to do the machine work. They cost almost 3 x as much but then you save on machine work needed for 14mm studs.
Questions, Does anyone have any experience with these studs?
What is the proper torque for these studs to achieve proper stretch?

Anyone know the proper install procedure for these studs? ARP stresses the importance of getting the proper amount of stretch when torquing head studs because it is the elasticity of the stud that keeps the head gasket clamped between the head and the block. What torque should be used on the custom age studs to achieve this stretch? I checked the ARP web site and did not find any instructions for these

The 625's are supposed to be torqued down to 150, but I would bet you could safely bring them a good bit higher than that. Woodruff torqued 12's down and they didn't permantly stretch until 180lb and I know quite a few people to take them to 145 with no problems...

i tourqed the reg. arp 12's down to 145lbs the arp 14's to 175 and the 625 12's held to 180 i didn't have the cocanuts to see them snap. i heard josh or eep twisted some 625's to some crazy lbs's somthing over 200 it pulled the threads. (hearsay didn't see it)

is that the correct part number? I need the actual ARP part number so I can contact my vendor and see if I can get them. Surely less that the price stated above! dang dems expensive.

I have talked to a couple of guys who are running these studs (EEP and JR Adkins)and they say that if you do not want to remachine for 14 mm studs these are the next best thing. They are expensive but have you priced a set of 14 mm studs? Now consider the cost to machine the head and block for them to fit. That makes the 625 studs sound pretty good to me.

Actually JR told me he prefers the 625 studs to the 14mm as he does not like removing the extra material by the oil cooler to fit the 14mm studs.
