Anyone one do a Cam for MPG?

I have my 01 HO sold and I'm planning on getting an 03-07 Commonrail. Been doing research on what mods to do.

Was reading through an old TDR magazine and saw an article about a PDR cam in 05. Gained a little power(40 ft lbs or so) but moved the peak torque down from 2500 RPM to 2040 RPM. That would be nice for towing.

They also reported a 2.2 MPG gain over like 1500 miles.

Anyone done the cam for mileage? See a few people that have them, but they have major mods.

I wouldn't imagine dodge could even tell if it had a cam for warranty stuff.

I think it was $1500 installed. Which isn't bad when you consider a programmer, gauges, exhaust and intake can add up to more then that and mixed opinions on any MPG improvement.

I wonder how many of the people willing to put a cam in can't keep their foot off the throttle.

I don't know anyone that put a cam in for mpg. I know on modded trucks when driving easy on a trip or something they see a gain. Most of us get them for the added spool up and easier to drive on a larger charger.

I've also heard reduced EGTs

The added spoolup and ability to run a larger charger is a great help as well.

Just curious if it helps mileage as much as what was reported.

If so, it sounds like a cam is a great addition.

I get 17.4 MPG with mixed driving w/TST on level 2.

Thats with a Helix 2 cam, a 71mm/76mm charger, and 90hp injectors.
