Exclamation ANYONE KNOW WHAT P0148 MEANS?!?! Smarty Problems?

I am having some issues with my truck. I've been running the Smarty for quite some time now. I upgraded to the ReVo about a month or two ago and my truck is starting to cut out. It didnt show any codes, but I had fuel problems before similar to this. Only it was with the EDGE chip. I took the Smarty out of my truck a few days ago. So its back to stock. But the problem keeps continuing. Today, driving down the road, it was just horribly bad. And a code popped up. I checked it and it was P0148-Check HPCR Pressure, what does this mean? Anyone know what might have happened or have had the same issues?

I am going to call the dealership. Its still under warranty but the dealership I dealt with when I had Fuel System Errors, only wants money. Im afraid other dealers are the same way. Last time they supposedly replaced everything. They claimed that there was dirt in my tank, which caused things to go out.

Any replies would be great. Maybe an error with the new upgrade on the Smarty? Maybe the pressure was set too high? Or too low?

Ill be waiting...

a search of the forum would net you all the info you need for that code.

It's a very common code and can just be erased with the Smarty. You may have a clogged fuel filter, you may have went above the set parameters for rail pressure.

If I remember correctly, there's a flash from the dealer that will also help with that. I used to set that code all the time and i know many here have too... the Smarty software had an issue with it but, they've since fixed it.

Do you know what # the stock rail pressure for Smarty is?

Okay, I was pretty sure to stay within the parameters for the rail pressure, but maybe not. Do you know what the stock # for the rail pressure is? Hopefully that will help. And I will also call the dealership when they open about flashing my truck.

stock psi should be no more than 23.5K. The fact you don't have a aftermarket lift pump may have play a part in it setting, if you're using older Smarty software... that could have caused it. A dirty fuel filter, bad fuel, air in the line.... don't know that there's a exact reason that it gets set but, you most likely don't have anything serious wrong with your truck.

I have the Smarty Revo, thats the new Smarty software, right? and I changed the Fuel Filter. Maybe I got air in the line, but how will I know? Or how can I fix it? Or how can I tell if it is a bad lifter pump. Whats weird is that this morning, it started up fine, drove fine until I got to the freeway (about 10 miles away). When I got on the freeway, it started cutting out. Now even while it is idling, it seems to want to cut out. I thought it might be the lifter pump, but I would think it wouldn't start up fine. Maybe its air in the line?

been there done that with the 148 code, went back to an older software version after replacing the fuel filter, cascade valve, fca and rail pressure sensor. Also checked fuel delivery from low pressure pump. None of them fixed it, the older version never throws it though. The truck that it happened on was an 06 like yours.

As for the cutting out, is it throwing any other codes? Also, check the ground wires on the battery to make sure they are all tight.

have you ran the truck hard ? I suppose it's possible you blew out the rail relief valve but, I don't know that it would set that code. You could also have a bad rail pressure sensor ?

Be careful at the dealer if you think you still have a warranty. The Starscan can see that you've had a programmer on the truck if the tech knows what he's looking at.

lmills- one cable was loose on the battery but I dont think it was loose enough to do anything to it.

Tritont-Do you know of a way I can check the Rail Relief Valve or the Rail Pressure Sensor? It started driving bad on Tuesday or Wednesday and I wasnt driving it hard. Unless romping on it on the freeway once or twice was driving it hard. But the code didnter appear until today.

both these are very popular set ups.... again though... if you want your warranty, you need to watch what you do to your truck

to check the relief valve, pull out the banjo bolt and stick the fitting in a jar or something to catch fuel that will come out. Have someone turn the truck over and if you see fuel coming out of the valve... it's bad.

Whats the Banjo Bolt? What does it look like or where is it located. Where would the reilef valve be? And if fuel is coming out of the relief valve, its bad, right?

I would suggest letting the dealer take a look at it. That code could come from a lot of different things. LMills really knows these trucks so I'd go with what he said in that he's tried it all.

It could just be a matter of flashing your truck or even a software glitch which these trucks are known to have. Don't be so concerned about it. I've never seen that code as a part of catastrophic failure.

See what the dealer says and then report back if they want to charge you to fix it. Maybe with a Starscan diagnosis someone here will be better able to tell you how to fix it.... if anything needs fixed.

The dealership will want to charge me just for looking at it. I think last time it was $85 just for them to tell me about the code, which I already knew about.

Just called the dealership, they want $90 to do the scan and if a part is needed, they will apply it to the cost. But what Im afraid is that they will try to add on more stuff than needed. I guess I have no choice. Its either do this or something major can go wrong later.
