Anybody else have THIS issue with Smarty?

Okay so I have been using a Smarty since the first ones made it over the pond. Pretty much as soon as it came out.

I LOVE IT.

However, when I am towing I have an almost constant haze if I am on the throttle at all (like maintaining speed at 65mph). This is with my car trailer behind me, my boat (10k) or my Toy Hauler (14k). Daytime you can see it kind of puffing out darker smoke. Not rollin coal while crusing but just a constant output.
At Night its a different story. Looking behind and to the right of the truck if there is ANY light coming from behind me it looks like I have been driving thru THICK THICK fog.

I have tried each revision so far. I ran it down to SandLake dunes this weekend on Smarty 1, Stock TRQ mgt, and its still does it. If I pull it back to stock it quits. It also DOESNT do it with my EZ on at all. I pulled the EZ in testing to see if that was causing it. Then set smarty to stock and put EZ on low, then medium. Doesn't do it. NEVER did it with my Juice/Attitude either.

I have tried every level with timing up to 9 to see if one would work better and they all do it.

Tired of my ToyHauler being stained black all the time..
Any pointers? Any suggestions? THANKS!
Chad

If Bob Wagner doesn't chime in here I'd PM him.

I just got the Smarty with version 4.08 in for my '03. I've been playing with every level from 1-6 and have it stacked with Quadzilla Race. No smoke at all - and I keep looking for it in my side mirror.

I pulled a toy hauler from ca to nv and it hazed the whole time. At the time all I had was intake, exhaust and tst. The TST was off!

Yes I have experienced the same problem, constant haze towing my 11K TT making a black sooty mess on it. The beta 4.4 software greatly reduced the smoke and I had no haze from the pipe or soot on the TT. Bob recommended going back to stock software though as the beta software hp was too high for towing. I am sure they will rectify the hp issue soon.

Mine does the same. Especially in Overdrive going up hills. It didn't smoke much off the start but after a couple thousand miles its really starting to blow the smoke. If the torque converter is locked up at lower rpm and you step into it mine really throws out the coal. Truck has also basically been had the smarty since new though.
I'm hoping that for daily driving the newer versions will cut down a bit on this.

Mine really only does it when acclerating. I haven't had the chance to tow anything yet though.

Mine did that also, but I had some bad injectors replaced and it went away....

humm,

dont' say that. how do you know if your injectors are bad. My truck only has about 16K miles and i've only had the smart on level 3. It's only been on the truck for a couple of weeks.

Me too on the haze when towing. Yeah, at night it really shows with the headlights from behind.
A turn down tip pointed to the ground, leaf blower style, keeps about 90% off the trailer.

The newest software that MADS is developing reduces smoke tremendously and lowers egts too. I don't have a timeline on release yet

edit* Have you tried the newest software or a aftermarket injector software?

Thanks

Could the airfilter be dirty.

Well, mine only has 19K on it. My symptoms were on the extremely obvious side - lots of white smoke on cold start, and until it warmed up to 180, it sounded like it was running on 5 cylinders. Oil level was up due to the diesel leaking down.
