Any benefit to removing the kitty ?
I'm getting ready to put a MBRP muffler on and I have a cat delete pipe I was going to use also. I'm wondering if removing the kitty really does anything as far as performance. Anyone know how restrictive the kitty is and is it worth the hassle of messing with it ?

I wonder if anyone has done a dyno of before and after kitty removal ? I believe the kitty shouldn't be there but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle of taking it out then having to put it back in for emmision testing. If I could gain fuel economy by removing it then that would make more sense.
I opted not to remove the kitty, straight piped the muffler. The kitty only amounts to a couple pounds of back pressure, not enough to really make much of a difference. My other reason for leaving the kitty goes to the EPA and DOT. If you happen to get pulled over in a DOT check, they see no kitty, the fine is horrendous. They will not give you a fix it ticket, they can red tag you, and your truck will not move until you either install the CAT or on a flatbed.

I got about 2 mpg by removing the cat and the muffler. I got 4 inch pipe from a local steel distributer. I kept my GA registration, so I dont have to worry about emissions though.

Your best bet is to delete the muffler, or run a performance muffler, and just keep the cat. Those claiming performance gains from ditching the cat are just trying to justify the choice they made. Too many problems for zero gain.

i have had no problems and can tell the difference. their is a lot of filtering material in it that seems to clog up. i would run a muffler before having the cat
