The rails are sized and designed after the injection quantity is calculated. This goes back to the old days of the "Unijet system. Even today the old calcs and code used is the same with the 2nd generation common rail. Even the Piezo fired stuff for 07 3rd generation units use same old proven design calcs.

Just making a larger rail will net more troubles not less. Less power, not more. Trust me on this one. The testing is 14 months old on larger rails.

Don, I was doing some brain killing last night (my Brain on Rye Whiskey)
what about running a split rail (H- Pipe double stock rails, 1 feeding 136 and one feeding 245)

The h pipe would act as a balancing tube between the injection cycles on the paired cylinders, and then feed the last 2 injectors 1 off of each rail. That would be enough to keep constant pressure at least to the same levels the DMX is seeing. Beyond that... I do not know.

Nice thing about Common Rail Diesel is the theory is not dissimilar to Bosch CIS Injection and K-Jetronic injection.

If you are going to run 2 pumps, would it make sense to retain and modify the stock rail to accept fuel from both ends? I don’t know much about the design of these things, but that might be simple and allow the “traditional” geometry calculations to be retained.
