Another muff ?

Well I'm bout to start driving the truck more regularly since march is coming and that means more nice days (Snow/Salt free roads.) With a 5" staight pipe to 6" Miters the drone gets pretty bad over 65mph. I would like to put a muffler on that is the loudest possible but no drone. I've read tons and tons on Areo,Donaldson/Nelson,and mbrp and they seem to be the most polular. I don't want my truck to be quiet I just want to cut out the ear drum rattling.Let me hear your opinions

Chris

The shorter Donaldson/Nelson mufflers would probably suit your needs.....

I hear the 51" Donaldson sounds awesome with 5" exhaust to Mitres

I just put a Flo-Pro twister race muffler on mine. I was in a hurry to get it done cause I had to haul a load to the hill country, so I couldn't order a donaldson like I wanted to. So far I really like it, the egts are the same, seems to have a little more low end response, and is quieter at idle, but has a nice smooth sound (not so raspy). At 75mph I could actually talk on the phone and understand what they were saying! The main thing I like is how much more you can hear the turbo, man it whines! I would suggest it because it seems to be a really good muffler so far...but its all preference.

What's up with the baffle removal of the donaldson and
Patrick do you have a link to the muff you got? My stacks with no muff or kitty sounds great but is annoying at 70mph and your rite you can not hear anyone on the cell phone

the only sound clip I have is the "Smarty smoke" vid I made and that is just me revving the engine in neutral......I did not notice the loose when it was straight piped...but when I put the muffler on it defiantly had some more low end power. the baffle in mine is tiny you can still see straight trough it.
I actually gained some low end power when I installed my 51" and best of all no drone

http://www.flopro.com/DPmufflers.htm here it is. I like it alot, but its considerably quieter. It has an awesome sound though, and you can still hear them stacks clear as day. I imagine it would be close to the Donaldson muff, even though they are worlds different in design. It is compact though.
