Can someone tell me where I can buy that rail pressure gauge from? Looked online and couldn’t find it. Been looking for one and this is the first one I’ve seen. How hard was it to hook up? Thanks for the help all.

This is how I made the connections:

12v to power the gauge movement (RED)
12v to power to the gauge illumination (WHITE)
Chassis ground (GREY)

Hope this helps Tom

I know which wire is which for the guage. I just haven't looked for factory wiring that is 12v powered when the instrument cluster is lit up(when the lights are on), that is not dimmed with the dimmer switch. In other words what did you connect the white wire to??

Last year I installed a Painless wiring kit with 4 ignition hot and 3 constant hot.
I used one of the ignition hot wires. I got the Painless kit from Geno"s.

I never could find the right wire off the headlight switch to utilize the dimmer, so I just ran one on over to the stereo dimmer.

But on the rail pressure guage, does boxes or tuners mess with the readings? Or will it be true?

When I save my pennies (after dropping over a G into more stuff ) I'll probably get the rail and FP gauge on a dual column mount.

That rail pressure gauge looks wonderful. Am I to understand it doesn't even require its own sending unit?? Does it tap into the factory sensor?

It will read it fine but you need to make sure you plug the gauge harness in first and then plug the module into that. Basically make sure the factory connector on the gauge harness goes to the actual sensor on the truck. From there you should be ok.

This leads to the next question; if the box/programmers are fooling the ecm and allowing more rail pressuse, can the stock sending unit be trusted to display actual rail pressure?

The stock sending unit reads the actual number. It is not the sensor but the ECM that is fooled.

The gauge will display the actaul rail pressure up to the sensor limit of about 27,000psi. It will not show higher than it can read even if the rail pressure is higher.

Thanks Quad and others. This is what I have been saying all along, although there has been much quiet dispute about this fact. As long as you are plugged into the sensor first, you will have a true reading.

To expand things, does the boost sensor function with the same set of rules?

I see 5980-6K at idle rail pressure. Sound about right??
