AmsOil
AmsOil
Hey guys. I was looking to change my oil to AmsOil and have few questions for those who know about AMSOIL.
First- I have a 07 but I don't think I have the special particulate filter that the 07+ trucks have, being since when I cut the cat off I saw no fuel lines for the particulate filter. How do I know for sure? I purchased my truck Jan 3 2007. I would like to run Series 3000 Synthetic 5W-30 not the CJ-4 low soot stuff.
Second- Remote By Pass Filters.... Do I go single or dual? With or with out the AMS-Oiler Oil Pre-charger?
I do light towing with a 7000# boat 5 or 6 times a month commute 140 miles a day and am thinking about a 16,000# toy hauler. I like in AZ so winters are down to 38f and summers up to 115.
I just want to know what will be a waste if $ and what will be most beneficial for my engine in the long run.
Thanks for your help.

You have the 5.9 if you cut your cat off and have had absolutely NO codes. You can also check the left side of the valve cover for the hp. You should have the 325hp rating.
The Amsoil bypass is nice, I 've seen many ppl on the forums using it....

I know I have the 5.9. I was at a local AmsOil dealer today and he said that if any 07 5.9's were on the dealers lot after a cretin date in Jan. 07 they were required by law to but in the particulate filter filter. If you have the particulate filter you cant run the Series 3000 Synthetic 5W-30 oil.
BMK11 is the bypass kit you need. It's a single filter bypass. You'll want to use either an EABP100 or 110 filter on it. I've got one installed pics in my gallery. The series 3000 HDD oil will be fine to run in your engine.
I like these oil precharger's much better than amsoil's: http://www.pre-luber.com/preluberkits.htm It's a "pre" and "post" charger. It'll circulate the oil at 55-60 psi for up to 3 minutes prior to cranking. The post circulate is nice for turbo cooldown. You can adjust the timing of the pre and post lubing. Amsoil precharger is just a shot of oil at 35psi and that's it.

If you have a 5.9 engine in an 07 you're fine it was built in 2006... I know it can be a pain to change dealers but you'd be better off to find an amsoil dealer that's maybe a member here or somewhere else that knows diesel pickups just for your customer service issues. Hope I didn't violate any forum rule by saying that I do not sell amsoil and am not a dealer...
No offense intended to your amsoil dealer but he doesn;t sound like a guy that knows much about diesels. The diesel particulate filters on the exhaust systems were required on diesel engines manufactured after Jan 01 2007 not "trucks sitting on the lot after that date"

ATTENTION are there any AmsOil dealers here in AZ that are safe enough to get advice from... form time to time.
I didn't mean that in a bad way really probably shouldn't have said it at all. It's just little things. For instance amsoil sells a really nice billet aluminum oil filler cap (I think it's BK1301) that you route the return oil line from the bypass into. But it's not included in the BMK11 kit. That guy won't know something like that offhand. Just little things like that. Probably no big deal really. Hey you'll just be getting mostly just oil from the guy so he should be ok...
