Alternator cable problem?
No I am not using the Dodge PCM at all. I guess I didn't look into it far enough. I just figured the Dodge Alternator would have the regualtor built into it. I wired it up straight to the battery just like the Ford Alternator was. But I guess the Ford Alternator was self regulated. So how would you suggest I get around this hurdle? Is there a regulator available to put inside the dodge alternator?
The Battery voltage is 14.5 at the battery at idle.
Thanks,
Brent.

I am confused how the battery voltage is up that high......without the alternator charging? The alt. shouldn't be charging without something telling it to ( i.e. PCM ) . You can wire up a Ford regulator to do it though. They are pretty easy. Just get one for anything from 1970 - 1990 or so.
I appreciate it ... I just assumed the dodge alternator was a self contained unit as far as charging went . But I will get a regulator and take care of that code.
I Do have another question but I do not want to get off topic on this thread. I will PM you if you do not mind....
Thanks,
Brent.
