AirDog & Other Questions.
I've never had a 1/4 tank issue, and I have the return plumbed through the filler neck. I can get down to 0 on the DTE overhead, and still no drops in pressure. Reads a solid 14-15psi all the time.

The factory return dumps back in the canister. If you tell A/D that you want the couplers to go to the factory pick up and return they will furnish them with the kit when you order it. Then all you do is couple to the factory connections, no drilling, or modding or dropping the tank or pulling the bed.

Maybe you can post a link to explain your theory then? Every kit I've seen still requires you to pull the canister to mod it for the AD return, one way or another.
Bottom line is if you draw from the canister your AD return must feed back into it was well or you'll have problems sucking air when you get low on fuel like I did before I plumbed the AD return to the canister.
(BTW, you used a draw straw in the tank for your install, right?)
Think about it, the stock canister (no matter what year) has a 3/8" feed to the engine and a 5/16 engine return, how can you possibly add the new AD return to the canister without removing it?
There's kits where you add a new draw straw to the canister and use the old feed to the engine for the AD return:
http://www.vulcanperformance.com/Dra...ow-p/dsvhf.htm
Here's a canister modded with the AD kit I think you were talking about?:
There's other kits available now but you still gotta remove the canister to install them.
I'm just trying to steer anyone looking at doing an AD install in the right direction cuz I've been down that road.

This canister is for an 03-04 truck ( https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...nister0001.jpg ) . Airdog will give you the adapters to couple directly to the factory location. That is coming for Charley at Airdog. Yes you lose flow rate drawing from a 3/8 pickup, as far as the return goes, I do not know the return rate of fuel to the tank, however I am sure it is less than the draw rate so 5/16 could be sufficient.
You can reach between the frame and disconnect the fuel lines on the earlier trucks.
Yes sir I did install the draw tube and returned it to the filler neck.. I have had zero with this system.

Yes, I have the fitting connecting the ½" hose feeding the AD to the canister, it's called a Dorman fitting.
The 5/16 connection is the one from the engine,, both before and after the AD install, you still haven't explained how that gets the AD return into the canister?

My apology, I don't know why I misunderstood you
. You are correct in the fact that the A/D needs its own return separate from the engine return.
I am embarrassed, I usually pay better attention to detail.
