Question AFE and filter minder

Hello,

I just put in the AFE set up. I am pleased with it and am planing on getting either the EZ or the BD downloader. Not sure wich is best.
My question though is this: is it a bad thing that my filter minder is down to red after about 15 minutes of driving? Stock, it hardly moved but with this filter, it is sucked all the way to red. I know this has been talked about before but I dont have time right now for search. Thanks for any input. I will get back tomorrow.

AFE has had these problems before--something in the way it is oiled is not quite right someone will tell you...Someone will blow smoke up your butt now about how well the AFE is flowing and that it was flowing SO MUCH air that it sucked your filter minder down.

According to what i have read... here comes the smoke blowing...

It is actually that the AFE is flowing quite a bit more but because of the placement of the filter minder in relation to the filter itself, the ventury effect created around opening of the filter minder is quite a bit higher. The results are a higher pull around the orifice of the filter minder than at the stock flow rates. I am not sure if this is the case only with the torque tube or if this is indeed true of the tt and the stock tube.

I think doug may be able to step in here with the correct computations to illustrate this point...

Try removing you air filter then hose clamp a cloth of sometype over the tube to keep particles from entering and see what happens.
