Ad100

Im looking to replace my fuel pump on my 03 with 70,000 mi. Im considering the raptor 100 or AD 100. I would like the AD for the extra filtration, but in reading posts on here about the install it looks like a pain. The one post the guy bought other parts and hacked up the wires and changed the mount. Is the AD that bad that you can not just install it the way that AD is? I will not be messing with the tank because I have the filter mounted pump and will only go with the 100 model. I want the AD, but if the kit cant be installed as is and end up with a nice installation I wont go that rout. Advice please.

I have installed several of them and never had a problem. It is pretty straight forward and with the 100 you won't have to drop the tank. Just plug in the fitting that comes with the kit and run with it.

mine was pretty easy and straight forward. the only problem was that i have a short bed and there was no way that it would fit inside the frame between the fuel tank and transfer case, so i had to mount it on the outside of the frame. good kit though.

What's the difference between the 100 and 150? I know the 150 flows more fule but why the different or more intense install? (dropping the tank)

If you get the right kit, the install is darn near fool-proof.

I checked to see that my parts were correct (they weren't), called Pure Flow, they sent me the right parts, and proceeded with the install.

Once the parts were correct, install time was just under two hours (if I remember correctly), but I was also doing gauges at the same time.

Where are you located? My time can be traded for beer...

I would gladly pay for help with beer, but Im in Lake Tahoe. Looks like your in San Jose. How do I make sure that I have the right kit? This kit will be going on a short bed quad cab. Has anyone else had trouble with mounting it on this style?

Crawl under the truck and take the pump with you.
Make sure there is enough clearance around the pump where you plan on mounting it. Some cutting may be needed, depending on the application.

Look at the wiring harness for the AD. One connector plugs into the pump itself, the other connects to the factory wiring harness. Check that it's the correct one.

Then, make sure you have all of the correct plumbing fittings. You can pre-terminate some of the hoses prior to the actual install, so as to reduce downtime.

If you don't already have a fuel pressure gauge, this is the time to install one.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips. I have read about some people suggesting the Raptor mount. Whats the deal with that? I dont have a fuel pressure gauge and am not familiar with them. Why is the install of the AD a good time to do it?

The install is easy like said before I did mine in the driveway one friday night after work. I had a couple ? and called the tech line at five minutes to five the guy I talked to was great and even ran threw a few other things to check and do to make the install perfect.

with the added flow, this requires opening up the feed line hence the big line kit. Feeding a pump with an extra 50gph requires a larger feed surface area than the stocker can handle

You'd be running all new fuel lines, that's why it's a good time to do a pressure gauge.
The normal AD mount has the pump sitting perpendicular to the frame, if you use the raptor mount like i did it sits parallel to the frame.
There's lotsa threads on the AD's if you do a search.

Cbrahs, do you run the AD return to the filler neck? You don't suck the canister dry that way? (Didn't work for me, had problems when the tank was low)

I asked the same question about mine, i think i got the raptor style mount, it has an aluminum spacer behind it to get it away from the frame to allow for factory lines and what not, the best in understood.
